I worked at Harvey Nash Group

    Pros

    - Great enthusiastic team; good company vibe; avoids "old school" stuffy recruitment culture. - Strong local leadership (I learned a lot about integrity from the MD) - Add real value to the community through events, surveys, and knowledge sharing to the wider market and client base - Encourages recruitment team to actually learn their domains instead of just pushing traditional sales tactics and "strategies"...

    Cons

    - Hours can be long sometimes, but that's the nature of recruitment. - Way too reliant on the UK for systems and processes.

    Advice to Management

    - Keep doing what you're doing; you're definitely a few cuts above the rest - stay that way. - The UK mothership needs to loosen their grip a bit to let the Australian operations move faster. It's a completely different game down here.

I have been working at Harvey Nash Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people to work with every day. Dogs in office, Flex Schedule, Great Benefits, 25% match on 401k, and highly competitive commission structure, opportunity for upward mobility.

    Cons

There could be more structure around process and training. Although it allows for folks to maintain flexibility.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the feedback of your employees.

I worked at Harvey Nash Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some smart and helpful people. Very good HR department. Global CEO sends you holiday cards.

    Cons

Branch management is interested in (taking) your business and not your success. Instead of creating and following up on a strategy they politely request you work longer hours, then create new targets *and* obstacles (usually reports or unhelpful suggestions that you go after such-and-such that they have pulled out of thin air and not researched at all) and gladly relieve you of your hard-won successes on your way out...

    Advice to Management

Examine the provenance of accounts of successful business developers/branch management. You'll find nearly all of them are from relationships developed from former employees. When someone leaves you'll see that management reaches out to all their contacts/accounts, waits a couple/few months to see who responds and then passes along all non-responders to the rest of the team to bang their heads against. This classic...

I have been working at Harvey Nash Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is the best job I've ever had and I love coming to work. No one is harping on you about metrics or setting more meetings. They care more about the bottom line ROI rather than micromanaging you; but still making sure you have the resources to grow your career. I have ability to work from home if needed. It is a pleasure to be working for Joe in the Chicago office.

    Cons

Office needs updating and they don’t use salesforce.

    Advice to Management

    Continue creating an amazing culture.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Harvey Nash Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Well known brand in the market. Externally credible but known best for leadership and executive recruitment, which is actually the smallest part of what we do.

    Cons

A messy and confused brand identity in the UK. They don't seem to have a clear vision and yet keep restructuring, costing people their jobs. The exec and senior management team on the whole are accountants and don't understand the recruitment sector. The systems and tools given to the recruiters are from the 80's! There is no business strategy articulated so it feels like the business has no direction.

    Advice to Management

Stop producing PR and surveys and start leading the business
