The oilfield is very demanding regardless of the company. H&P is no different, but its not really a con if you know what you're getting yourself into.

    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at Helmerich & Payne full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

There is a lot of room for promotion. Especially when the oil prices are booming. Depending on what rig your on or yard working from the employees are great

    Cons

They have no hesitation to lay you off regardless of how many years you have, and if your an older person they discriminate. It's the oil field you can't expect much they don't pay as good as other companies nither.

I worked at Helmerich & Payne full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1. You get exposed to new technology and get to learn a lot. 2. Flex Schedules and Half day fridays. 3. Good pay and benefits

    Cons

    1. No job security. If oil price goes down, get ready for a layoff 2. Lost the Helmerich and Payne family values and culture it had over the last 4-5 years. Now its just another corporate company. 3. No sense of belonging. 4. No say in decision making. 5. Promotions based on whom you know in upper management. 6. Lot of unnecessary middle management. More project managers than people who do real work.

I worked at Helmerich & Payne full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The people are great; great work environment; great benefits and pay; great culture; annual bonus and raise if the company is doing well; very cyclical.

    Cons

Don't get on the bad list-you'll be the first to go when they do layoffs. No formal review process so your raise and bonus is based on your performance and your manager's view of you.
