I have been working at Herbert Smith Freehills full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Herbert Smith Freehills has a market leading corporate law practice with top tier clients and the most interesting and cutting edge legal work available in the market. As an international firm there are plenty of opportunities to work on cross-border matters and learn from overseas developments. The training, development and learning opportunities are second to none.

    Cons

As expected in the legal profession, corporate clients can be demanding and hours can be unpredictable. Having said that, as a large corporate firm there are plenty of resources available to reallocate resources where required and there is an excellent culture that recognizes and rewards its employees.

I worked at Herbert Smith Freehills

    Pros

Lots of law firm perks, good CPD program, cab home for late nights at the office, good pro bono work

    Cons

Poor team culture with high turnover. Micromanaging partners. No regard for personal life - long hours, effectively on call at all times. Poor quality, low skilled work for mid level solicitors. A real shame because other teams are not like this - this review reflects team specific issues (antitrust team).

I have been working at Herbert Smith Freehills full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people who are smart, friendly and approachable. Top work. Firm commitment to culture, diversity and inclusion. Ability to work flexibly assists with work life balance.

    Cons

As with any large firm at times the hours can be long at times. In some aspects you can feel more like a number in the global company, although this is not the day to day experience.
