I have been working at Honey Birdette part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    • DISCOUNT! 40%! • Amazing employees and managers. • Always something to do - Never bored • If you know your toys youre in for a breeze! If not... You're a little screwed! • Very welcoming company. • Always feel appreciated. • Get to wear sexy lingerie all day, talk about sex, and play with toys. • Amazing, friendly customers.

    Cons

    • Feet get tired wearing heels all day. • Some real creepy men come in asking for sex/try on lingerie for them. • If you're not comfortable seeing breasts and bums all day, this is not the job for you.

I worked at Honey Birdette part-time for more than a year

    Pros

40% discount on all products (lingerie, bondage, latex, AND toys), great incentives e.g every Christmas they give away several pairs of Loubitons and an international trip to a few girls

    Cons

You have to wear heels despite being on your feet for up to 10 hours per day, highly competitive because you have few customers and high budgets (that are often too high for stores that aren’t flagships), sexualising workers, if you dont make budget for 3 weeks you’re cut down to one weekday shift, if you aren’t available up to 4 days a week as a CASUAL you could get fired. Casuals can very rarely meet incentives nor win prizes because you have to work a minimum of 5 hours a shift on that day or certain hours a week. So it’s only store managers and 2ICs that can actually win

Company is run literally by teenagers and the culture certainly feels like that too. There are some very young girls in management positions who don't have the emotional intelligence to run a business, their under so much pressure to achieve ridiculous budgets and you're expected to invest YOUR OWN WAGES into the company to bring in more business. You're paid an average wage and expected to do public relations on the brand, the CEO sets her staff up as front line soldiers to defend her brand when she starts another 'controversial movement'. I've got one thing to say about that woman and its: She appropriates female sexuality for profit, she does not want to empower women she wants to exploit them. She does not like larger women and has fired employees because they don't look like her ideal woman. She is a dirty old man RUN AWAY OR GET OUT NOW

I have been working at Honey Birdette part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - 40% discount - Get to help women explore their sexuality and find confidence - Incentives such a Christian Louboutin vouchers, free toys and store credit

    Cons

    - What you are expected to do vs what you are paid to is phenomenally unfair. You are working for barely minimum wage, while expected to meet near impossible targets, manage entire teams, and endure constant sexual harassment/abuse. - Bullying culture, the management will routinely demote, embarrass and single out anyone who remotely sneezes out of line. A newsletter is circulated around the company ranking every single employee from best to worst in sales as a means of public embarrassment. - Expect to be routinely sexually harassed by customers

I worked at Honey Birdette full-time

    Pros

    - 40 % discount on items - really good incentives - the people in your immediate team are generally very nice

    Cons

I dont even know where to start. Made to make ridiculous individual budgets and shamed if you dont make them, hours on end alone in a store and not allowed to go to the bathroom, no security measures to look after the girls, encouraged to flirt and force people into buying products. I mean thats not even the worst part. Im going to give everyone a piece of advice and i know there are girls at HB currently reading this, they dont care about you and they never will. Your safety means nothing to them, your advice and pleas for things to get better mean nothing because at the end of the day the big boss doesnt give an absolute f about you or your life. You are there to make her money, period. Im sorry to the girls who have been sexually harassed and abused in these stores and have been told by management to simply write it down and send it to head office for them to never deal with it. Im sorry that you have to deal with men making innapropriate comments, men asking you to try items on for them and of course being involved in daily involentary phone sex. Im so sorry that your traumatic experiences mean nothing. If you are looking to work at honey birdette DONT and if you are already there GET OUT NOW.

I worked at Honey Birdette part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - generous discount- 40% - everyone wants to be you ?? -good incentives “honey money” $100 spending money if you making a customer spend over 1000

    Cons

-expected to arrive an hour early, leave late unpaid overtime -unpaid but required meetings -constant pressure to meet budget-if you don’t meet past 80% every single honey can see every single week you’re “in the red” -hours cut if you have a bad week - expected to wear 3 pieces of current HB which is expensive upkeep as they constantly consolidate sets -cult like environment - expectation to wear heels, ever shift requires full face of makeup, nails done, hair always done. Even if it’s a three hour shift. - contracts not given to managers for the sake of manipulating them to do better “and then they’ll get their contract” but never do - Because they never give out contracts I have seen countless hard working managers be demoted with no notice except a new roster all for not making red for a week, even though some other stores will stay red for weeks but they’re area managers favourites making them untouchable - new honeys rise in management without training due to high turn over but new honeys are told it’s because of their “potential and hard work”- not because nobody else could handle the constant scrutiny and never being good enough - no cameras in store for your own security - managers and 2ic’s work ALONE in the store with exception for THREE HOURS a day where they aren’t allowed to take a break or even GO TO THE BATHROOM - it’s honestly common in honey culture to contract UTIs from having to hold their bladder for hours, bad skin from never having a day off to let their skin breathe, weight loss from not eating as they aren’t allowed breaks or scared to take one incase they don’t make budget, oh and foot problems from wearing heels 8 hours a day every day. -poor training and management due to high turn over; I worked there for three years and had a new manager every month. - company will pick favourites so even if you are a high earner it doesn’t really matter - constantly told you’re replaceable, constantly having managers in tears over budget, management treating their lowers terrible as a result of higher management pushing them - expected to push customers even if they feel uncomfortable - no life outside of work.. they have a whatsapp of every honey in QLD constantly blowing your phone up, a group chat for every individual store, as well as emails sent that you must reply to by end of day in regards to your store, every Wednesday in “hive” an app just for honeys must read a weekly news letter and percentage page and training modules which you usually have to do again and again, expected to be a part of the Facebook groups “admiration page”, “buy swap page”, as well as Instagram to stay in the loop. If you don’t, it looks like you don’t want your job.

    Cons

The Management are all to young and don’t have any proper training. The staff are considered clones to be replaced if not reaching sales target. They have a Hive on which each week a list is put out telling everyone your performance wether good or bad, it’s like a report card weekly. The staff are spiteful as they work against each other instead of as a team.

Huge favouritism from staff higher up MASSIVE turnover of staff! Not one person I know is still working for the company when I was.

I worked at Honey Birdette part-time for less than a year

    Pros

You make real relationships with customers and with some people you can really feel that you made an impact on your life. It's rewarding and fun to work in a sex-positive environment. Good perks such as 40% discount on all products and constant opportunities to earn store credit. Flexible scheduling. It still feels like a small business as you will build a good relationship with corporate employees, and higher-ups including the CEO are very engaged with supporting stores and even make visits to stores regularly to see how they can support you and the store. Store experience will largely come down to your manager and your coworkers. Stores are small so teams will either feel like family or your worst enemies depending on how you get on with them. I was lucky and loved everyone in my store and they will be lifelong friends!

    Cons

Small staff in stores so if you are ill and need to call out, you usually can't because there's nobody to cover you. VERY numbers driven. You are very highly pressured to make sales targets and get publicly shown in a monthly company newsletter if you didn't make your monthly target. It can start to pile up on you if you have a bad week or have poor foot traffic. I often ended up stressing out on my days off about how I was going to make up my monthly deficit and became very anxious about going into work. Dressing up for work can be a pro or a con - for me the strict dress code became exhausting and 90% of my wardrobe was deemed unacceptable because it wasn't perfectly form fitting or skirts sat a couple inches above my knee. You are made to wear stilettos for long hours, even when no one is in the store. And my personal least favourite, you are told you need to wear at least three pieces of HB merchandise at all times. This is hard if you don't have the money to purchase (as it's hard to get full time hours) or are a new hire and your discount hasn't kicked in yet. You also can't wear products from past collections, and your pieces quickly become outdated at the rate they come out with new collections, so a bra you bought 6 months ago might become unacceptable to wear as you can't sell it to customers anymore (the policy is that you can't wear products from over two collections ago). I think employees need to be given a yearly allowance to update their HB wardrobe and keep on top of what they're wearing to promote to customers. Creepy customers are CONSTANT. There was a period where someone would come into store or call the store to perv on me at least once daily. While we are encouraged to stand up for themselves and tell them to get out or even call security if you work in a mall, but it can sometimes be scary because for a good portion of the day you are working alone. I've had creepy men come into the store daily or watch me from outside the store, I've had guys I've told to get out of the store wait outside the mall for me to get off work, etc. You need to be able to stand up for yourself and have a thick skin when it comes to men perving on you.
