I worked at Hulu full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good facilities, Free Hulu subscription (fully loaded), Well stocked kitchen. Hulu is pretty honest about the bonus and LTIP it promises, you will likely make more than the numbers in black and white. You will come across some exceptionally smart and talented folks across the org. Negotiate very hard before joining because chances are you will be stuck in the same position till you give up.

    Cons

I joined a very different Hulu back in the day and sadly cannot reconcile the monstrosity of a corporate bureaucratic entity it has become in spite of its relatively small size. Most employees will attest to the blatant favoritism and nepotism that exists here, across all teams in general. There is absolutely no justification of the promotions and career progression of " the blessed ones". The VPs and directors... openly touted and talked about their "blessed ones" every one else in the Analytics org is well "everyone else". In general Hulu is very understaffed and people are worked to the bone in most cases. 70+ hour work weeks are fairly common and the leaders encourage that which leads to very perverse outcomes within the teams. Most of the folks who have left have left the frat house like culture of the organization. The leadership is in complete denial and so is the HR teams as long as the revolving door keeps revolving at a steady pace. 50 people start on Monday and about 2/3 the number leaves on a Friday. In general the org lacks empathy and any care of people's work-life balance. Your bonus and LTIP will be paid consistently year over year however when it comes to discussion about promotions your manager will come up with weird excuses such as Mars and Jupiter are not aligned this year, climate change is affecting the business etc.

    Advice to Management

Keep the revolving door revolving. Keep living in denial. All is well.

I have been working at Hulu full-time

    Pros

-Opportunity to work on a variety of projects

    Cons

    - Long hours. Many people on team won’t get home to see their family. - New management has added to the workload / disorganization - Most Talent is leaving - Seems like most of the team took paycuts to work here -very little upward growth -lack of diversity in management positions -be prepared to do several jobs in one

    Advice to Management

Figure out the team structure as its hurting the employees on the ground level daily.

I worked at Hulu full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is a lot of talent but its disappearing Everybody is overpaid (I was too) Great snacks and kitchen Fun culture Beer, and snacks No hiring competition More beer and snacks and wine and snacks and peanuts and snacks

    Cons

Nobody does anything - great place to retire. My manager worked 2 days a week and complained of workload. He/She was shameless. Weak leadership, lots of cliches in presentations Not a tech and product driven company but feels like a more top down company - this is why Amazon will soon kill them. The increasing subs (25M+) is a smokescreen - they keep reducing prices while netflix increases it - but the product... has not changed one bit The CTO (came from tivo which doesn't exist anymore and gets paid a boatload) has brought no identity and speaks in very vague terms - he is technically not deep at all - Young, dynamic, Inspirational, energetic is the exact opposite of who he is. Handmaids tale is one partially hit show - rest is just partnering and buying content with daddy's money.

    Advice to Management

Become a tech driven and product driven company. Take a shorter hit for longer success. Trim the fat. You are also a big part of that. Amazon/Apple is about to eat your lunch.

I worked at Hulu full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company-wide activities and sponsored events, startup-like environment and energy in certain areas of the office, plenty of project opportunities to collaborate outside of your group.

    Cons

Growing pains, unclear direction at times given Hulu's ownership structure.

I have been working at Hulu full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Hulu has a lot of good going for it. Internally, employees are highly collaborative and willing to engage. Working with senior leaders has overall been a breeze, not something I've experienced at other jobs. From top level to individual contributor, most Hulugans want to see their peers succeed. Externally, I see a lot of opportunity on the horizon with Hulu and the business changes it has gone through recently.

    Cons

There has been a lot of change, and change management could use a little tightening up. But when you're moving at the speed of innovation, this can happen.

    I worked at Hulu full-time

    Pros

Location, free Hulu, unlimited time off

    Cons

Hulu is overall a good company with fun environment and okay benefits, but I would not recommend joining the Data Analytics org. Poor leadership created unhealthy culture that led to many leaving the team. People who put in the hard work do not receive deserved recognition. Interesting projects are given to select group of people favored by management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team and take measurable action to improve culture or people will continue to leave.
