I worked at Hydrogen Group plc full-time

Its a great place to start your career, they have a good training scheme (UK only). They also work with some great clients (UK). There are some good leaders and people that really believe in the brand. Good commission structure

    Cons

    - Not much support to international offices - International offices need more senior leadership - Very competitive environment - Salaries could be better - The culture has changed significantly over the past few years

I have been working at Hydrogen Group plc full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Hydrogen invest a lot of time and money into their employees, good training on offer with clearly define career paths. Good support network within Hydrogen with viability to senior management. We are a small office that preforms well, we are rewarded accordingly for performance. Great opportunity to advance your career and make good money, only if you are willing to put in the hard work.

    Cons

As we are a small office with a heavy workload, the hours can be demanding. We need motivated graduates who are willing to learn to assist us with client demands.

Thank you for your feedback. The business has gone through a dramatic change over the last three years and our performance and flexibility have dramatically improved, which to my mind is not easy. You obviously are unhappy and I urge you to talk to me about your frustrations so we can work out a solution going forward. Please get in touch with me or our People and Culture team. Best, Ian

I’m sorry to hear that your experience at Hydrogen was not what it should have been. The company has indeed gone through a lot of change in the last few years. When I took over as CEO, like you, I also noticed we weren’t making enough of our internal talent. Consequently, we’ve recently developed new career pathway frameworks so that the power is directly in the hands of our staff; there's now absolute clarity around what each individual needs to do to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential. And I truly believe this will go a long way to help us retain our staff. We still have work to do to make Hydrogen the best place to work in recruitment, which is our goal. But we’re getting there. Interestingly I have had very good feedback from people who left two years ago when things were tough due to the oil price drop and they are very positive about Hydrogen compared to where they left for. I hope in time you will look back fondly on your time at Hydrogen and realise what you got from the business. If you’d like to share more details about your experience, please email me at iantemple@hydrogengroup.com and I’d be more than happy to set up some time to talk. I value feedback from current and former employees, as it helps us to make Hydrogen a better place to work.

I worked at Hydrogen Group plc full-time

    Pros

I think coming here was useful as you learn how to become successful as a researcher or consultant in highly contingent tough markets, and under the rule of KPI's become very effective and disciplined at hitting your targets. In other words, its good training for life. I made some good friends during my time there.

    Cons

It was quite a depressing place to work at the same time though. People were being fired left right and centre, and morale was low. The emphasis was on KPI's all the time, sending out mass emails to clients/candidates sent a bad message. It was a ruthless place in a lot of respects, and the place was run like a stereotypical big corporation, where your value is as a number compared to anything else. The KPI stick was the only real management tool used, and employees were not encouraged to develop their own styles or ways of working. The closer to being like a computer, the closer to being a robot, the better you were.
