    Pros

    Cons

A fewer formal training programs and there are less opportunity for growth and promotion.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Imperial Tobacco full-time

    Pros

Salary is good. Benefits are good. There are some good employees trying to 'fight the fight' and make Imperial better. That's it.

    Cons

Zero opportunities for development. When something does finally come along it's already given to someone who's been prepped for it or a team fav. Interviews are pointless in Imperial as the candidate has already been decided on. Slow process to achieve anything. Lots of office politics and complex ways of working. Middle management team are horrendous. Some ignore policies and treat their team as they see fit not at all in line with the company ethos or policy. Others bully their team or just simply aren't even present. This is never addressed. HR team do not step up enough. If you want to progress and enjoy your career do not join here. If you want just a job and aren't concerned about next steps then this is the place as they pay ridiculously well.

    Advice to Management

Take a look around. How much energy is there in this company - look across the office. What do you see? Really question the ability and suitability of the middle management team. Are they leading the teams as they should. Are they empowering their teams to do the best they can. The basics need to change in order for this company to win. Finally, look at the development opportunities and ask yourself 'if you were starting out again, would you join Imperial in it's current climate'.
