I worked at Imperial Tobacco full-time

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Nice physical environment

    Cons

Dying industry. Managed from the UK with more and more decision making removed from Ireland

    Advice to Management

    Learn a bit of empathy

I worked at Imperial Tobacco full-time

    Pros

Great management support, good base salary

    Cons

Bonus not rewarding enough, forever increasing workload

    Advice to Management

Justify workload to staff with properly weighted rewards and bonuses. Comparative pay with other reps would be ideal

I worked at Imperial Tobacco full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pay as long as you have a job. Challenging environment and (some) nice people.

    Cons

The business model is based on cost savings. Most brands have the highest possible share of expanded tobacco making the reduced tobacco weight more voluminous to save the costs. As a result, they burn very fast (and cheating the consumer). Every October/November the staff has been reduced by 10% to 20%. The appraisals and redundancies are mainly based on personal preferences and connections. No investment in new generation products such as heated tobacco. The declared company values are certainly not the values applied.

    Advice to Management

The top management has already realised what is the only solution. To cash in and have a good day after the (near) collapse.

    Pros

I liked the challenge, strong brands, loved the team work.

    Cons

You have to work more than 8 hours a day , maybe you have to work in weekends also.

    Advice to Management

Nothing really, I really enjoined all the people I worked with.

I worked at Imperial Tobacco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic salary level for the West Country of UK
Great offices, onsite gym, canteen and free parking
    Yearly bonus

    Cons

Though there is an ambition to offer at great EVP they don't deliver, development is sketchy, performance evaluation subjective or non existant , though your performance score does impact your bonus.

As with most companies your employee experience will directly relate to the team you are part of the manager you have.

Very few will be given opportunity for career move to into different business areas or international careers as this is simply not cost effective.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk.. or simply don't preach what there is no intention of practicing
