    Pros

It is one of the most customer friendly public sector bank. IOB provides better learning opportunities for its staff. There is 100% job security because this is a government bank and giving good benefits to the staff like staff quaters facility, NPS and other benefits.

    Cons

Long Working hours, too much pressure for NPA recovery and selling of para banking products.

I have been working at Indian Overseas Bank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

IOB has tremendous working atmosphere with the presence of all over India. That gives preferable location to work . Amazing and high value customer service. All banks in India facing constraints to grow however IOB managed to grow in terms of CASA operating profit. This shows never giveup spirit of IOBians. Excellent and transparent promotion and transfer policy. Good people to grow with.

    Cons

Huge NPA is drawing bank in loss. Even Government has decided to bring FRDA bill which requires additional capital infusion. Government may not offer bail out package in future. Hardships situations for all public sector banks in near futire.

I have been working at Indian Overseas Bank full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Public sector Bank, Job security, Working hours from 10am to 5pm or 9am to 4pm Working all over India and even abroad will make people blend to every work culture and tend to see vast type of customers which enhances the quality of work we

    Cons

Humongous internal politics, nepotism, influences at every level and for every matter Poor knowledge management, Extremely poor work culture and working conditions, Lethargic staff starting from clerical cadre to top management cadre, Nobody wants to take responsibility for their position, Ill-treatment of freshers, Big generation gap since there was no recruitment for more than 20 years. Many incapable superiors unfit in their positions, just come up due to unplanned and unrealistic HR policies and politics without taking into consideration the organisation's position in the market. Union - Association influence over non-performance (main cause for non-performance) Extremely unfit employees at a higher level than they deserve hardly showing signs of knowledge expected at that level, have only spent time at the office but have never gained any knowledge or even experience for that matter, in my opinion. Many talented people feel comfortable to stay in the clerical cadre, refuse to take promotions which seems to be the right thing to avoid politics in this organisation. An officer/manager is expected to do work of a sweeper, attendant, driver, clerk, officer and his superior. Once a while can be ok, but to do it regularly, it sucks big time. Especially a new comer is warmly welcomed to do most of the job outside his/her jurisdiction/department and is never being appreciated / considered for having done that extra heavy work along with their work. In fact they are ill treated by those superiors in spite of the good work done. Only a few recognise.
