    Pros

    - Most staff were friendly and helpful

    Cons

    - extremely tough (physically) work during busy periods (meeting 10min food times) - long hours (especially on the close/open) - Pretty bad pay - Disorganised (the one I was at anyway)

    Positive Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Free lunches - Decent pay if you're young but it's not a viable option long term -Good bonuses but only if your pub is profitable

    Cons

-Stress -Long hours -Childish "high school clique" culture in some pubs but not all -Always under staffed

    Advice to Management

Work on shift with staff more often and actually get to see what it's like in the fray. We're not moaning about long hours and understaffing for no reason

    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Paid weekly - Good promotional aspects

    Cons

    - Expected to provide first class service for a second class rate of pay - Always understaffed - Customers constantly complaining about the speed of service due to lack of staff and high inflow of customers (even though they are paying the cheapest prices for their products, they clearly do not understand basic economics or they just enjoy complaining) - Work into the early hours of the morning - Expected to... work bank holidays with no extra pay (exc Christmas Day) - Forced to work Christmas Eve (busiest day of the year) until 4am with NO increase of pay even though from 12am onwards you are technically working on Christmas Day - Area managers are robbing a living and making life more difficult for employees who work a million times harder than they do but get paid a fraction of their salary - Majority of customers are rude, some even threaten you and make you feel unsafe

    Advice to Management

Cut down on the number of useless area managers, avoid investing millions of pounds into promoting political campaigns i.e. Brexit and increase the prices of products. Then use this increase of revenue and invest it in paying the staff who are being verbally abused by customers and are working 10 hour + shifts into the early hours of the morning more money so that they can feel what they are doing is a little bit... more worth it.

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible hours Good pay for industry Sociable staff Staff discounts Free share scheme

    Cons

Too corporate in places Company used as a political propaganda tool Late hours Over-working the staff Expecting too much of part-time staff Service industry, so often horrible experiences with customers Little sympathy for mental health issues

    Advice to Management

Focus on staff welfare. Consider yourselves all on a level playing field, working for the same company. Not, them working for you. A greater connection with the staff will work wonders in any Wetherspoons.
