I worked at John Lewis & Partners part-time

    Pros

25% in store and online for all products except electricals which you can only get 12.5% discount on”

    Cons

As with any hotel, working at The Odney club can be hard work. In front of house areas, you spend many hours on your feet. In housekeeping, the work is physically demanding and many departments require you to work a mixture of early mornings and evenings, not to mention weekends.

    Advice to Management

Shout about what a great place to work The Odney Club is.

I worked at John Lewis & Partners full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and perks which can be improved with hard work which makes you want to work your best as you'll be rewarded for it. It is also a fun environment to work in.

    Cons

Stressful when busy as very high expectations from customers. There are lots of different systems which aren't very logical to use so if you aren't very tech savy or don't have the time to go through the systems it can make the job difficult. The training process for these systems aren't very thorough and often consist of other employees teaching you but sometimes they aren't sure how to use them themselves or aren't willing to teach it. Management often mess up pay and aren't very quick to solve issues. Also shifts can be very long (12 hours is my longest) and the days of the week vary each week meaning I either worked 6 days a week or 3 days a week.

    Advice to Management

They need to be better at responding to the needs of their employers and need to actually manage their staff
