I have been working at John Lewis & Partners full-time

    Pros

Colleagues are very nice and help you whenever possible to their fullest. Really good experience to understand what good customer service really is, and how to sell a product.

    Cons

Hours and very long during quiet periods, and the job can be stressful during busy periods. Retail isn't for everyone either, so if you aren't tough, it can be emotionally draining with the customer complaints.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at John Lewis & Partners part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is in the same boat as you

    Cons

Career prospects are quite low - you won't progress unless you work in head office. I knew someone who had worked for 3 years+ with no advancement

    Advice to Management

Give more freedom to striving employees

I worked at John Lewis & Partners part-time

    Pros

Friendly environment in departments where support from other partners was given if needed
Use of in-store devices made it easy to address customer inquiries
Good pay - including two days of paid leave

    Cons

Sense of frustration from more senior partners towards temps when they made mistakes
Miscommunication between line managers and other departments (i.e. when moving partners to different floors and delegating roles)
Limited attention given to temps at the start when getting set up with a device and for using the tills
Processing and packing deliveries at the till seemed unproductive and can be a little stressful

    Advice to Management

Potentially have deliveries moved to an allocated floor only
