I worked at John Lewis & Partners full-time

    Pros

If you like the catering at wetherspoons then the canteen here will suit you right

    Cons

Manager trend of coming from stores and not skilled, experienced or educated in their functions such as photography, production etc. Specifically this arm of the company is a strange one and tends to be the poorer sister, the Headquarters in Victoria get a far better deal. 5 stars for work life balance because there seems to be more tea-breaks than actual work in this place

    Advice to Management

Management operations at the content production hub are school-like and treat staff like they are young students. It's a strange place overall and not really worth the commute into the ends of London. Management is absolutely appalling, specifically within the fashion teams

    Pros

The people are great and the staff discount for shopping is a plus aswell as the other benefits and discounts we get (holidays phones, cars etc)

    Cons

Difficult getting holidays and systems are dated making it difficult to do our job effectively.

    Advice to Management

New systems and look at holidays.

    Pros

Great team feel, great to feel part of something bigger. No lack of encouragement to develop within the company if you choose to.

    Cons

Management techniques vary store to store, flexible working means you do things outside of your job title.

I worked at John Lewis & Partners full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A warm, family feel to the workplace. As with all retailers, there are high standards and a lot of demand on you as an individual, but there's a strong support network. Salary and benefits are good for the industry

    Cons

Communication isn't great and there's very little room for progression. There's not quite the "job for life" reputation it once had. Morale is low following mass redundancies and ever decreasing bonus payments.
