I worked at King full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Strong work life balance, nice office with a reasonable amount of social activity.

    Cons

Weak job prospects (no merit based promoting, only two games in London), little to no transparency leading to sudden changes, uninspired work on live titles, unclear roadmap.

I have been working at King full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Good people - Nice benefits - Easy work, nice pay - Low expectations make it easy to get by without doing much work - Nice place to start for juniors

    Cons

    - Lots of people who are unqualified sit in leadership and upper management - Limited career path - All titles are copying each other, no innovation - Extremely toxic work culture - Can't trust HR (they will victim blame) - Good work isn't recognized - they would rather promote someone loud who complains over someone who actually deserves it

I worked at King full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Free breakfasts - Decent bonuses ( depending on when you arrived ) - Nice health benefits - Easy to take parental leave ( in Sweden ) - Fun colleagues ( you know how sometimes you bond faster with people due to shared misery and hilarious rants about moronic upper management and sycophantic flimflammers ) - Company name looks good on your resume ( due to the belief that Candy Crush's success is due to internal competence rather than bumbling luck and a puff of magical monetisation targeted towards addiction ) - Easy to get promoted ( if you love things like nepotism or failing upwards ) - Company getaways ( enjoyable locations.. if you can avoid all the jerkfest meetings .. oh and if you love meetings then you'll enjoy the endless stream of vague agendas, useless opinions, buzzwords and resolute outcomes of 'booking another meeting' ) - Open communication ( if you can sift through the corporate doublespeak and song and dance routines )

    Cons

Nothing.. it's perfect! Nah just kidding, it's crap. Work somewhere else if you can.

I worked at King full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Mostly friendly coworkers, decent benefits, interesting guest presentations, job security

    Cons

HR is awful and have zero sympathy for anybody. Of course HR are there to protect the company, but you would expect that if you report somebody to HR for breach of conduct they would take action instead of trying to make your life miserable. They refuse to make reasonable adjustments for people with a functional impairment such as allowing them to work for home and forces them to take sick leave. When a global pandemic comes about no questions are asked and everybody gets sent home. Coworkers are generally very friendly people, but there is many jokes about racism, sexism and mental illness. Your manager is more likely to take pity with the person making these comments than with the people subjected to them, meaning that unless you push through and report this person anyway, they will never learn. The company seems to be too scared to take any really meaningful risks and spends all its money and resources on candy crush. Be prepared to sit around for 2 months without any direction or anything to do and when you eventually get back to work and it's hard to adjust, you will get blamed for not working hard enough in your performance review. Raises often don't even cover inflation. In many positions, skills are not very transferable and people get stuck in the company and find it difficult to find a new job. I do not recommend working here.
