I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting full-time

    Pros

L.E.K. Consulting requires you to travel much less than other strategy houses. This allows you to build strong bonds with colleagues while working on challenging problems.

    Cons

The hours can be long which is expected. the breadth of work may also be limited in comparison to MBB.

    Advice to Management

Acquiring key talent will be a key challenge for L.E.K. as they pursue their aspirations for growth. Also, technology and modernisation is key!

I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Small handful of genuine people

    Cons

A culture of entitlement from all levels of staff. Complaining at LEK seems to get you further than actual good work. Lack of diversity. Management has tried to address this by holding “diversity working groups” however it is a box ticking exercise with no tangible results. Toxic culture built on focussed on negativity.

    Advice to Management

This is pointless. Advice is given to management every 6 months on what staff would like to see improved however nothing ever changes.

    I worked at L.E.K. Consulting full-time

    Pros

    - Amazing colleagues who you will enjoy spending time with at and outside of work - Interesting projects which you will see garner media attention - Emphasis on work - life balance. It's consulting, so be realistic, but the firm does have policies in place to try and achieve a balance

    Cons

    - As with all consulting firms, hours can be difficult and challenging - Compensation could be a bit more competitive

I worked at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have taken a large number of lifelong (and international) friends from working at LEK. High performing environment, with super smart people from whom you will learn so much. Great, principled leaders. Fantastic exposure to high-level professionals across a diversity of industries. Very stimulating work, for which you could see the impact.

    Cons

More personalized professional development support would have been great. You're thrown in the deep end and can feel isolated and on your own for skills acquisition. There was sometimes a lack of 'caring personally' from managers; although, peer support was amazing.

    Advice to Management

They could introduce training for managers on how to get the best out of their teams.

I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

L.E.K. has a unique low-ego, collaborative culture. L.E.K.ers are smart, driven and creative broad thinkers. Pay is in the top 25% compared to competitors. L.E.K. have a focus on PE and strategic projects rather than implementation work.

    Cons

Hours can be long at times, particularly when working on PE projects (60+ per week). Average hours are 55 per week. However, this is no longer than the industry average.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look big picture towards L.E.K.'s growth and future trajectory and continue to work on attracting the best talent via both pay and culture.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent case mix, some interesting projects Most people, especially juniors, are fun to be around Good social events, emphasis on company culture

    Cons

Menial work for juniors, especially in their first year (lots of phone interviewing and extremely basic secondary research. Too often a very boring job. Very basic / boring personal development sessions - content learned at uni. Pay is below average compared with competitors. Partners minimise costs to max profits and aren't great with benefits

    Advice to Management

Attract and retain the best people with a more competitive salary and more emphasis on challenging employees rather than boring bright people.

I worked at L.E.K. Consulting part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Develop a very strong, marketable skill set. Great opportunities for travel and diverse, interesting experiences. Responsibility and impact early. Many opportunities to take on more responsibility on projects. Great mutual support network, especially at more junior levels.

    Cons

Not all of the work is equally rewarding - most people struggle with motivation after back-to-back commercial due diligence projects. The flip side of an entrepreneurial culture is that some of the business processes are less developed than they could be. Development of management skills could be improved.

    Advice to Management

More focus on development at the Manager level would pay off in many ways.
