I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting full-time

    Pros

    - Exposure to senior (C-Suite) management from day 1, (even if not directly until a year or so in). - Highly analytical: good opportunity to develop the most useful and employable analytical skills. Data drives decisions - Short projects so interesting mix of work - Pay is great and increases exponentially with tenure - VERY smart people - Meritocratic, to an extent (early promotion system is still very opaque) - Chance to build a well rounded business skillset, roughly equivalent to MBA, in a few years - Relatively good exit ops

    Cons

    - Lack of morale. Associates don't drink the coolade as they would at other MBB. Some people have a chip on their shoulder - High pressure: often thrown in the deep end. Can be easy to get overwhelmed. There are efforts to support staff as much as possible but the reality is that this is a tough job. If you are consistently feeling stressed, please realise that there is more to life - Hours are bad. No getting around it. Average around 55-60 with some 70+ weeks (maybe 4-5 times a year). Pay is appropriate given the hours. - Trust in leadership is questionable... I think it's better in UK than US, but extra transparency would be appreciated - WFH is challenging: lose the comradery of the office, there's very limited replacement for social events that used to be regular - Not as diverse as it could be in terms of socioeconomic backgrounds. Very high proportion of Oxbridge grads from "traditional" backgrounds - Some partners seem to have low EQ
