I worked at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You develop strong analytical skills, and develop a strong send for evidence based recommendations. Short average project length means broad range of experiences are possible

    Cons

Short term mindset of partners, long hours at short notice, no soft skills development or network building due to the fact you spend all your time in the LEK office

I worked at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Intense work style; Quantitative Projects; Excel skills will be built; Heavy responsibility and Interaction with Internal Stakeholders (although not External); PowerPoint Skills; Diligence Work (If that is what you want); People are smart and talented, although minimal time will be spent networking, socializing, or doing tasks that are non-work related,

    Cons

Cons Long Hours, Intense speed on projects, High expectations, Lack of feedback on cases, Cases are extremely short and very similar in style (either diligence, strategy work which is very diligence like), Minimal to zero client interaction, Work is repetitive and job can be repetitive (Projects mirror each other, minimal beach time, 2,3,4 week DDs are sold), Training is shorter than it should be, Alumni network is not that strong and you will be required to build your departure on your own terms, Hours can be long, Firm pride and camaraderie is low because your value is in execution and in getting the work done (think a lot of slide output in a short amount of time is expected), Firm will cut people every 6 months if performance is not up to expectations . Training is short and after the 1 week orientation all training will be not a full week and you will likely be staffed on a case concurrently.

    Negative Outlook
    Approves of CEO

I worked at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Compensation is very high and much better than most other post-MBA opportunities Ability to get managerial experience at an early stage in ones career is rare and helpful when exiting Clients are typically not the sexiest but form a good mix of industries and sizes Third party recruiters seem to respect LEK and frequently reach out with opportunities

    Cons

Hours are brutal, particularly for Consultants who are responsible for slide output. After the associates are finished for the night, consultants need to stay to review their work, resulting in consistently long hours. Few slow weeks or even days, resulting in burn out and major difficulty in maintaining a healthy personal life, whether single or in a relationship. Simple not enough time or manpower (mostly time) to get the job done Once you figure out how to run a case, handle the research, and build a deck, learnings seem to slow
