I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Very strong in healthcare and lifesciences; doing truly strategic and transformative work and supporting very innovative companies with their Japan strategy - Very international, diverse environment - Flat hierarchy - Transparent, sincere culture - Smart and hardworking team members - Offers pathways to a range of other good opportunities, including good grad school options, marketing / strategy roles at leading healthcare and tech companies, private equity and equity research, etc. - Global brand that is recognized in US, EU and beyond

    Cons

    - Some projects have long working hours - Healthcare focus isn't for some - International environment may not be so good for people who want too immerse themselves in Japanese corporate culture

I worked at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Handfull of intelligent colleagues - Opportunity to engage with overseas offices - Pay comparable with industry competitors

    Cons

    - Poor talent retention. More than 50% of the office resigned in 2018 - Terrible working hours, even by industry standards. Expect to finish 3 to 4 in the morning, with constant weekend work - Dysfunctional pyramid structure, with insufficient number of middle level staffs, - Thankless and toxic culture, driven by leadership. Avoid at all costs at any position / level here. Find something else, and you will not regret.

  3. "The pay compensates for the long working hours"

Former Contractor - Contractor in London, England

I worked at L.E.K. Consulting for less than a year

    Pros

Very young and dynamic working atmosphere. Good pay.

    Cons

I agree to some extent that the company is a research sweatshop. Working hours are definitely long. Sometimes you would also want to have a more diverse task and more say than just doing due diligence research. You don't feel like you're learning anything new except for doing more hardcore research.

I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - LS practice in upward trajectory; growing variety of projects and portfolio of capabilities beyond transaction advisory work - Senior team members are interested in professional development of staff within life sciences - Apolitical and meritocratic (at least at more junior levels): career development largely determined by performance. Staff are given responsibilities as-and-when they are ready (vs., according to tenure) - Continued efforts to manage staff work-life-balance - - Competitive pay

    Cons

    - Tendency of due diligence work to be oversold leading to long work hours - Tendency to "boil the ocean"; detail-oriented, research-driven approach towards projects often leads to less focus on big picture thinking - Allocations system largely based on luck and availability

I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting full-time

    Pros

Diverse set of projects to work on Smart, talented, and fun group of employees Great post-consulting career opportunities Dynamic work environment that allows you to constantly grow and learn Extensive professional development trainings

    Cons

Work/life balance is virtually non-existent, with typical work hours between 65 and 70 hours a week. While LEK is looking to improve these hours, it is difficult to do so given project under-staffing, reluctance to push back on ad-hoc client requests , and a firm-wide mentality that midnight is a reasonable hour to still be working. There is also a fair amount of networking necessary to be staffed on projects in certain industries
