I have been working at Leighton Contractors

    Pros

Good company Values, and SHE culture which is delivered from the management down, and instilled at all levels, management always communicating change to personnel and informing them of issues or lessons learnt, pro-active with toolbox information meetings. Supervisors and HSS team are visible in the field are always mentoring and ensure job is conducted safely

    Cons

There are no cons working for Leighton Contractors there pay well with industry standard and deliver, so i can';t say there are any cons

    Advice to Management

I found working in a multi disciplined work front that processes need to be Consistent across the department and not doubled up, this just adds to the confusion and working things out, keeping things simple gives personnel the best opportunity to 1) understand the requirement of the process . 2) be able to deliver the right outcome according to the process . 3) deliver an an on time outcome for both Company and individual...

I worked at Leighton Contractors full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great project, good project team.

    Cons

At the end of a tough project, it felt like the people who had saved the day were shown the door along with those who had been in charge when the problems were created.

    Advice to Management

Learn from the lessons of the past with regards to pricing contracts to make a sustainable profit rather than just to win the work. Teach your Client facing staff how to deal effectively with demanding Clients particularly on lump sum jobs. Beware of going into industry sectors where you do not understand the culture i.e., oil and gas.

I worked at Leighton Contractors full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good experience as the project was massive. Very good money Networking - you meet people from all around the world. Some are really good at what they do.

    Cons

Very bad staff management Unnecessary stress to achieve goals Not rewarding work but had to do with the quality of the labour available as well.

    Advice to Management

Senior management was not really approachable with unrealistic demands that came from bad planning and poor labor management. Human Resources were not helpful at all. There was minimum communication.

I worked at Leighton Contractors part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Good environment to work in. There is job satisfaction in completion of works and recognition from managers. Good step toward a graduate role.

      Cons

Contract states standard working hours as well as (additional hours as needed to complete tasks), where in reality you are working at least 50 - 60 hours a week.

      Advice to Management

Workers need some recognition of extra hours worked, and possibly a system in order to keep the morale of employees higher.

I worked at Leighton Contractors full-time for more than a year

      Pros

      Some good people, reasonable pay

      Cons

Too many managers and not enough people actually working. At one stage I reported to 7 different people all at the same level of management and all with conflicting priorities.

      Advice to Management

Simplify the management structure and reporting lines. Get rid of managers who can't manage people!

I have been working at Leighton Contractors

      Pros

very good safety procedures and culture on site large amount of projects in Australia and overseas some projects have a very good management team

      Cons

no chances of getting promoted unless you are being looked after salaries are not competitive with no bonuses paid for extra work input. no training provided for a long time and hard to get approval to do so minimal work life balance too much paperwork and not enough employees to do it

      Advice to Management

promote your junior staff and train them to take senior positions instead of employing people from the outside. pay your staff a competitive salary and reward them for all their hard work via bonuses or similar
