I have been working at Lend Lease full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic array of projects to work on. Friendly culture is encouraged from the top down. Safety approach is applied consistently across projects. Good work-life balance for construction standards.

    Cons

Don’t get to know senior management well although this is typical of larger companies.

    Advice to Management

Visit sites more often to provide face to face contact with workers.

I have been working at Lend Lease full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Global coverage, have had the opportunity to work in many places like New York, Seattle, Toronto, all over Australia, Kuala Lumpur and attend conferences in Hong Kong and Barcelona,

    Cons

Sometimes you get difficult managers but have managed to outlast them all, and working to deadlines can mean long hours, but they do balance them out with time in lieu

I have been working at Lend Lease full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Barangaroo head office is amazing, flexible working hours, pay above industry average, opportunities for career progression

    Cons

Needs more women in senior/executive positions

I have been working at Lend Lease full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - their Focus on mental health in the construction/operations industry, and not just talking the talk, but walking the walk in this space (ie wellbeing leave as an option)
     - their desire to be an LGBTQI employer of choice
     - focus on development of women and people from diverse cultural background into leadership positions
     - innovative
     - management that genuinely care about its workers, in all of the business units I worked in over a period of nearly 10 years
     - every time I had 'itchy feet' and discussed it with my Manager, I was offered new opportunities
     - great employee benefits and maternity/paternity leave policy (18 weeks at full pay, can take up to two years off)

    Cons

Draconian rules around IT equipment and use, but that had been easing up.
Still a lot of silo-ism within the business, and difficulty in figuring out internal capabilities as a result.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

I have been working at Lend Lease full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

i currently work in the Barangaroo office and have worked for Lend Lease for +3 years

    - varied work is good ie/ combination of office and site work
    - great office facilities @ Barangaroo
    - great team members on the floor and on site doing the actual work
    - desktop and TAMs doing the everyday duties and site work are all very knowledgeable
    - high number of customers are great people
    - some inter-state travel between multiple sites

    Cons

    - pay is very low comapred to industry .
    - IT management, very poor.
    - the Atlanta service desk (1st line of support) is very poor, so much so that internal customers avoid dealing with them.
    - IT team in Barangaroo is seen as a "revolving door".
    - IT support structure is very poor, alot of double handling of work and alot of admin work that IT should not be doing
    - IT management has a very "old way of thinking" to get things done.
    - off-site IT support can be very difficult to do as management dont make it easy to support sites. ie/ travel, management will ask you to "pay for your own way" and that you will be "reimbursed". ie/ easy to take money from you, but takes time to get money back to you
    - management dont try to retain excellent, knowledgeable, competent employees.
    - lots of people have left the IT dept because the IT management are very much bullies, sexist and racist attitudes.

    Advice to Management

Please take a good hard look at the IT department and its managers, there is a reason why so many people have come and gone in the last 12-18months.

I worked at Lend Lease full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Conveniently located premises, great colleagues. Strong health and safety culture. Paid great farewell money when made me redundant due to the mining industry downturn. Good brand to have in your resume.

    Cons

Salaries are below industry average. Personal development is not supported, has to be paid in advance from your pocket, when certificate issued it can be reimbursed. Management was changed due to acquisitions, and the atmosphere changed accordingly. New management's long term strategy was reactive rather than proactive - resulting a loss of plenty of sharp minded engineers then, and a whole manufacturing facility in couple of years.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your best assets: people. Make more efforts to identify future trends, then act pro-actively. Change your mindset and strive to build a sustainable business.
