I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fair compensation for the level of commitment required. Flexible schedule Engaging and meaningful projects Many opportunities for growth and career advancement. Strong work life balance

    Cons

Rigid processes make it difficult to drive innovation. Fair salary, but minimal compensation for going exceeding expectations.

    Advice to Management

Without competitive Silicon Valley compensation, there is little preventing new employees from leaving to achieve a higher salary, then returning at a later time.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Absolutely incredible individuals. The talent pool is exceptional and I learned so much and worked on interesting aerospace projects.

    Cons

I couldn’t handle being paid less than my peers in the industry on the west coast any longer. Left for a huge increase in salary at a similar company

    Advice to Management

Please pay appropriately for skill level

I have been working at Lockheed Martin

    Pros

We get to work on things that push boundaries. Lots of job security. Decent 401k. 9/80 schedule is nice. Slowly adjusting to allow more remote work.

    Cons

Overall programmatic management and efficiency is poor, but that’s partly due to the customer (NASA). Health care could be better. A little slow to adopt new technology and ways of doing things.

    Advice to Management

Plan things out. Understand how you are going to need to allocate resources to meet schedules. Don’t just expect the employees to figure it out for you. Invest in employees more with training. Be better about establishing and enforcing standards for producing and controlling engineering and documents. Overall just need more organization.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin for more than a year

    Pros

Immediately given genuine engineering work and guided through the necessary steps to be able to complete it, with a focus on learning and experience.

    Cons

A larger corporation tends towards more specialized jobs for each employee, resulting in less daily variety than might be experienced in a smaller business.

    Advice to Management

Establish opportunities in which the unique interests and talents of employees can be shared with one another - i.e. music ensembles and such. It is great to break up the day to heighten productivity with a fun event to look forward to mid-day.
