I have been working at Lovisa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Big on promoting from within, so there is a lot opportunity for career growth. You won't be promoted in 5 minutes and if you want to grow, you need to be prepared to work hard. As you would within any other buying office. Two A+ women leading the buying team - always approachable and supportive of the team. Really invested in improving the functions of the buying team. Fast paced, global company so you gain a... lot of industry exposure. Constantly getting to develop new product in response to trends and sales performance. Buying team has recently expanded, which has helped alleviate some of the pressure that was there previously.

    Cons

The reviews on here don't paint a pretty picture but they describe an environment I personally have not experienced. Do it now mentality, so it can be rollercoaster ride at times. This is not a con in my eyes, but it's not the environment for everyone. If you want to work 9-5, this is not the job for you. But if you're prepared to put the hard work in and work longer hours when required, you will reap the... rewards. Development plans are not always prioritised. Depending on your manager, you may need to push to have one set up.

    Advice to Management

HR needs improvement. Current team are store girls who have been promoted - they're lovely and they do their best, but they have no HR qualifications or knowledge.

I have been working at Lovisa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Helping the customers and working alongside some very hardworking and selfmotivated gals

    Cons

Disgusting treatment of people. There isnt another company around that treats their employees like this; without respect and using intimidation and fear as a management tactic. Other companies try to build a positive workplace culture to get the best out of people, Lovisa is a throwback to something out of Oliver Twist.

    Advice to Management

Have a look at the staff turnover rate and try to figure out why no one wants to work here!!!

I worked at Lovisa full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You have a job so you get paid

    Cons

The worst working environment I’ve experienced. No one knows how to manage a team from your direct manager to upper management. Everyone plays the blame game and you end up being punished for things you didn’t do. I was bullied and worked to the absolute core. Working from 7.30am to sometimes 11.30pm at night and not even being acknowledged for it, instead blamed and made to feel that I was doing a bad job for... idiotic reasons. My direct manager lied about me to upper management because of her own insecurities and instead of upper management handling the situation like professionals I was made to feel extremely unwelcome and bullied. Do not bother working here, it’s toxic, a disgusting environment. No one is friends because everyone is competing with each other, there’s no culture and no friendly welcoming atmosphere. Pay is ridiculously low for the amount of work you do. And don’t expect a promotion for being good at your job but instead sucking up to the buying manager and director. It was a nightmare, there’s so many companies that know how to treat employees with respect, don’t waste your time here!

    Advice to Management

Move into the 21st century, fashion and retail has moved on from treating people like slaves. Learn how to treat your employees right because there’s a lot of companies already doing that.

I worked at Lovisa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The girls you meet and the 50 percent discount

    Cons

Terrible management who are very hard on all staff, from head office to stores. They are ruthless and do not care about their employees, just making as much money as possible. It not a place for the feint hearted or the soft. You will have to be ruthless, heartless and brutal to survive in this place, let alone grow your career. It is a major mistake to come here to further your career, stay away.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like humans and not cattle.

    Pros

Staff discount and that is pretty much it, there is very little that you can say which is positive. It is a revolving door

    Cons

Management are poorly guided, and the culture is absolutely appalling with incredibly immature behaviour, little respect for direct reports, and no respect for autonomy and development. Management also make ill informed decisions, can't translate the information on reports and are just a group of people who think it's fancy to be in senior management. Last minute decisions made by management and directors,... shortening the lead times for direct reports to complete tasks to due dates, but are expected to stay behind for hours to complete.

    Advice to Management

Take a real good look at your team structures, and position descriptions. There isn't a clear pathway for progression, and it's very much a social club.
