  1. "Unprofessional staffs, toxic workplace, is a nightmare"

    StarStarStarStarStar
      Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Lovisa full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Worked with some lovely people Discounted jewellery(80% off for managers, 50% off for staffs)

      Cons

Harsh environment Staffs are not properly trained No education required for a professional role Some managers are disqualified Hierarchy One of the core business values is “respect” but reality would slap your face Car spots are allocated to “senior staff” Inequality of treatment High turnover Gossips among one and another Profit is a priority no one cares how you feel or what you think unless you can make...

I have been working at Lovisa part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Really nice team members, and you learn a lot. Acquired great customer service skills, how to use POS, how to work with KPIs and how to personally sell.

      Cons

Managers are just friendly 20 year olds with no managerial experience or business skills- my manager was hired because she was friends with the regional and could sell Add Ons well (even though she has no experience in managing or any business skills/education). Also, they base your whole job around add ons, as much that it consumes the whole job and discourages you to work. Lastly, they treat staff members as casuals...

      Advice to Management

Hire managers with real managerial skills and experience. Don't push Add Ons so harsh- it gives employees anxiety, creates toxic competitive environments, and discourages staff when they don't sell as many as asked.

I have been working at Lovisa full-time

      Pros

Getting to work with a lot of people your own age you make friends pretty easily. Good staff discount and the end of year roadshow is fun.

      Cons

Lovisa is all about focusing on the negatives and regularly forget to celebrate the wins. You can have all your KPI’s amazing but if your add on % is bad you’re automatically doing terrible. Add ons in general are way too much of a focus in stores and give team a lot of stress and pressure. There is literally never enough time for anything. They pretty much expect you to work overtime for free because you are never...

I have been working at Lovisa full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Some of the girls I was working with were nice and the discount is OK.

      Cons

They always put a lot of pressure on you, regional managers call almost every hour and shout at you. I had to come in early on my first day and setup the store alone, because no one else wanted to come in or they couldn’t organise the right number of staff. I have also had to stay until late at night until midnight to finish setting up the store for the next day. Of course they would never pay you overtime for this....

I worked at Lovisa full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Fast paced and you gain a lot of experience and international exposure. So many different products and tight deadlines makes each day a rollercoaster ride, which isn’t a bad thing.

      Cons

For the amount of hours, you work each day you are paid peanuts. The workload is big, and you almost never see daylight during the week, often having to stay back late to get all your work done and get all those new products out in time. The amount of stress you have to put up with isn’t really worth it. Co-workers are very competitive and there are a few unfriendly cliques in the department. Some like to undermine...

I have been working at Lovisa full-time for more than a year

        Pros

There is always room to grow in terms of skills and there are always opportunities to advance your career. They often promote from within.

        Cons

The morale is low, the culture is toxic, and everyone is stressed and miserable. The staff turnover is high so no knowledge is retained and processes are erratic and inconsistent, which makes learning how everything works difficult. It is not a good workplace to spend half your life in. Management and even your own co-workers are not exactly trustworthy, and some are known to undermine each other. The only thing that...

        I worked at Lovisa full-time

        Pros

Leaving was the best day of this experience

        Cons

if you want to be in a job where they expect you to work 15 hours a day, treat you terribly, micro manage and not appreciate you then this is the place for you. Uninspiring micro managing head of product who is allowed and encouraged to bully staff. Awful buying culture and extremely high turnover. I lasted under a year thankfully. The positive reviews are written by management as no one working in buying there enjoys...
