I have been working at MYOB full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Alignment across the company. Shared vision. Emphasis on our shared values as a company. Agile and quick to adapt to change. Fun and energetic environment with friendly, smart people. Autonomous teams that experiment with new technology and frameworks. Flexible working arrangements.

    Cons

Can be challenging building software with dependencies on teams in other cities (Auckland, Melbourne). Not all products face this, but mine does.

I have been working at MYOB

    Pros

Fast yet organised pace. Compensation is above average, and leaders frequently discuss progression plans. Engineering teams are well-built and collaborative.

    Cons

Decisions that impact customers are often driven top-down or opinion-based; it can take a lot of persuasion to get original ideas to work their way up the chain. Collaboration was a lot better when Melbourne employees were co-located; key teams are now split across three offices.

I have been working at MYOB full-time for less than a year

    Pros

After working at MYOB for the last 6 months I can say that it has the progressiveness and energy of a startup, not a 20 year-old organisation. Both peers and management are open and supportive and it lacks the departmental silo's that I've experienced elsewhere.

    Cons

Although The Glen is not the typical setting when compared to the Melbourne CBD, the office is near the train station and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

I have been working at MYOB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A really fun, supportive working environment. The company really values its people and is always looking for ways to improve engagement from team members. It's also great to work for a company that has such a culture of innovation.

    Cons

The Melbourne office is a bit out of the way.

I have been working at MYOB full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The company is continually innovating and promoting innovation within the company. There is opportunity to be involved in this innovation and to push your ideas and contribute to effect change. The company is definitely flexible when it comes to personal circumstances. They are very supportive in those cases.

    Cons

You have to promote yourself, you can't sit back and expect opportunities to come to you. Some managers are better at being supportive than others. Not all managers invest time in developing team members - it depends if you're lucky enough to get a great manager. It can be challenging if you're in an office other than head office -Melbourne. Everything does tend to revolve around the Melbourne office.

I worked at MYOB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good atmosphere. Great people. Competitive salaries. CEO is a nice guy and passionate. Some great ideas and initiatives recently to up their game. Turned an older desktop company around. Amazing.

    Cons

Too many managers. Not enough leaders and visionaries. Development is slow leading to outsourcing that causes more problems. More of a 'settlers' than 'pioneer' sometimes. Agile struggles to translate outside of product development into management and marketing. Employee performance targets and personal growth targets are a mess. Big decisions and changes happen in Melbourne which can be very frustrating and distancing.
