I have been working at Macquarie Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Macquarie is a large organisation and they welcome staff moving roles internally. There is a huge range of departments and teams so it's hard to review the company as a whole but in general there are a good opportunities if you can get used to the fast pace. They have good benefits.

    Cons

Pay rises aren't in line with market. Doing multiple peoples jobs is usual.

I have been working at Macquarie Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You will feel challenged Lots of opportunities to take the initiative and drive improvements Excellent cloud strategy for both public and private cloud Opportunities to change roles through trading places

    Cons

Many cost center roles are required to charge time back to the business limiting the ability to do things outside your day to day work You will get recognised for improving the business, if your role is central IT, it is hard to be recognised Central IT feels redundant as the company moves towards a self service model

I worked at Macquarie Group for more than 3 years

    Pros

I worked in COG Technology, Sydney. + Empowered, ownership culture + Minimal red-tape compared to other banks + Reasonable tech

    Cons

+ Machiavellian promotion process + In technology, outside Front Office, forget directorships (Executive, Divisional, or Associate) unless you have worked in lower a title doing the upper title for 5-10 years (per title) and marketed yourself internally throughout so that there is no reason, no doubt in any peer from any unrelated team, for you NOT to be offered. Very stacked towards the house and lots of good talent goes because of this.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Macquarie Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Flexibility to the staff in working hours and locations. There is also opportunity to create a global network due to the Orgs global scope.

    Cons

Change fatigue that grips people every so often due to the never-ending Org changes that change very little. We're also poor at communications and never update people on any change.

I have been working at Macquarie Group for more than 8 years

    Pros

The people here are great and there is a genuine team spirit when working on projects. The hours are very regular and are nothing like the notorious investment banking side of things. The facilities such as change rooms, kitchens, central buildings make it very cool. IT side of things are trying to get on par with tech startups which is definitely cool.

    Cons

It is a very top heavy organisation with a lot of hierarchy. Many snap decisions of higher ups without much explanation mean that the teams and workers are left scrambling to satisfy their wishes. Sometime uses guise of agile to do whatever they'd like without following rules. Staff appraisal system is fundamentally flawed with no way to influence outcome other than have false sense by filling in pages of input.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Macquarie Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Bright people, low on bureaucracy, excellent work/life balance

    Cons

Fast pace meant limited willingness to carry through with initiatives once the going got tough (never in it for the long haul). Constant restructuring disruptive. Leaders are often very bright or good at one thing but few all rounders. Lots of introverts and alpha personality types.
