I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Management empowers you to make choices on your own for the most part. This allows for a more unique relationship with customers since you can authorize returns, discounts, etc. on a case by case basis without having to call in the manager every time. This is especially helpful in a commissioned department like shoes, where your customer relationships are very important.

    Cons

Intense pressure to get customers to sign up for a credit card. If you are not a fan of sales, this job will be harder for you. The number of people you get to sign up for credit cards is part of your employee evaluation and will determine how much of a raise you get and whether you will get promoted.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - mostly nice co-workers - flexible hours - choose your own shifts

    Cons

    - trick people into getting a credit card (and end up having more debt) - management does not stimulate team work, more about profits - no open mindset, no room for change - obligated to work certain days/weeks - no time to talk to co-workers, nor manager
