    I worked at MapR Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    MapR’s only promising product is the File System (now also refered to as MapR-XD). All the other bits around the database, streaming, Kubernetes, PACC and the AI fuzz they are making actually either don’t work, have not been tested through load or are just hyped up accordingly with the markets move. Great place to work as most sales reps left.

    Cons

    - MapR’s product is way to expensive for what you get - Hybrid cloud solution literally does not work without scripting in AWS, Azure or GCP - no integration in the product - Management: great place to work now as nearly all managers left or have been asked to leave - Product Development: due to the management reshuffle, no real product development is happening and as the third big data vendor in the market, MapR is already behind - highly complicated environment to work in the product and customers find it hard to learn MapR and find useful and successful projects out of their investments - to get to production is hard

    Pros

    Working from home , which helps with someone who has Kids.

    Cons

    no focus on the EMEA team, no office in the UK, no strategy , Marketing...

    I have been working at MapR Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Fast paced, collaborative, people who really care and go the extra mile to help each other. The technology is exciting, and the teams start to feel like family very quickly

    Cons

    company has become an absolute mess since Matt Mill's departure. Very engineering focused, sales is looked at as more of a nuisance and an expense than a value add. The fact that the entire sales force was let go is very indicative of the culture - as a sales rep you are expendable to executives and the CEO John Schroeder.

    - Best products in the industry - Great work life balance - Irreplaceable culture as I was part of a real family

    Cons

    - Needs stronger global alliance partners to be successful - Too many re-structure and layoffs which impacts partner eco system and moralle

    I have been working at MapR Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Employees are treated well and equally. The Executive team are "normal" people who talk to you. The company try to keep employees informed, with a super friendly culture. Colleagues are very supportive, with great knowledge and experience, not just in EMEA, but throughout the organisation - from my colleagues at HQ in Santa Clara, to those I have met during our Sales Kick-Offs in the U.S. Working in sales / marketing, the product is fundamental to my pride at work and career prospects within an organisation. Since joining MapR I have met multiple clients from a variety of industries and the all have been extremely happy with the product and service delivered. My job allows me to be part of an exciting hyper-growth journey at MapR - it is a great time to be at MapR!

    Cons

    When a company is growing there will be growing pains and certain challenges. But that also makes MapR and exciting place to work and keeps my job interesting. Each day brings new challenges, but if you are prepared to work hard, then the satisfaction of genuinely contributing to the success of a business outweighs any negatives.

    Pros

    1. Solid technology, especially the file system 2. Good working environment and given freedom to run the business

    Cons

    I will not go into the usual cons about lack of marketing and overly technical messaging as this has already been shared widely. My cons will be: 1. No clear direction from management on the future of the company. 2. Some of the actions (downsizing, layoff, lack of investments in marketing) clearly shows that the company is preparing itself to be sold. 3. What a waste, we are giving Cloudera a free run.

    Pros

    Smart people work here; real product differentiators over competition; great retention rate and expansion rate of existing customers

    Cons

    Marketing/messaging is too technical and not integrated enough into sales process (although this is improving); hired a lot of reps with application sales background (not infrastructure) under last CEO and they seem to struggle but this is also being corrected.
