      Cons

Poor marketing and sales. Engineering needs to share their knowledge more often.

      Pros

      * Big Data is a very in demand technology, and being here gives a very wide exposure to the latest in the field * Lots of requests from customers on a wide variety of use cases and solutions. Provides lots of creative opportunities combined with exploration of latest technologies * Wide ecosystem of products ensures technical skills never limited to any single software product or product family alone. * Full stack of solution provides technical work exposure on everything right up from kernel to filesystem to hadoop ecosystem to java applications and third party end user solutions. * Good work environment - startup culture gives flexible options, limited heirarchy * Direct close contact to principal engineers and architects behind the product stack * Healthy culture of assistance and training from top tier engineering leadership * Regular team outings, refreshments etc * Pay packages at par with the top tier of tech companies * Steadily growing customer-base and revenue granting good stability for the company on a performance basis

      Cons

      * Financial policies quite restrictive * No own campus, so limited on-premise sports or other activities * HR practices limited to bare minimum. * Employer benefits limited

      Pros

Got a good product. Flexible work hours. Nothing other these... Just writing something to fill the 20 word minimum mandated by glass door.

      Cons

Let's start with work... The Company has got an identity crisis. It claims to be a converged data platform company and NOT yet another Hadoop distro - but indeed customers are using this as a relatively better performing Hadoop distro only. While most of the Hadoop components are outsourced, when it comes to supporting customers' Hadoop deployment, it boils down to blame game & ego frictions. You see two kinds of managers - the one that thrive by satisfying their egos - the others that survive without dignity. No room for new ideas from new engineers unless certified by so called experienced people. The engineering organization is arrogant while the support organization is pathetic. Now the money... Good base pay (if you are lucky and negotiate well) on par with industry. Worst health insurance - even the most expensive PPO plan has a lot of out of pocket even for lab exams. Zero bonus Stock options not worth mentioning. No other benefits I could think of - yeah Friday free lunch from the same vendor almost every week....

Great place to work and great technology

      Pros

The technology is great and the people at MapR are very talented. It doesn't feel like a small company and there is a lot of resources available for training to get ramped up quickly. The leadership team is very strong and MapR is gaining more and more momentum everyday.

      Cons

Most enterprise accounts have chosen a Hadoop platform provider and lumps MapR into that category, though MapR is highly differentiated. The challenge is showing the technology's strengths that go way beyond just Hadoop distribution.

      Pros

Product has significant differentiation and is proven in demanding customer environments. Company positioned well to be relevant to a broader big data customer community beyond Hadoop. Significant wins at some impressive major accounts.

      Cons

Fair to poor execution in some key areas (cloud, marketing, partners, customer, community) Longer term leadership positions may be holding back company progress New Oracle sales hires seem naive, entitled and pampered. Marketing underfunded and lacking in direction Poor internal communication. Executives are not accessible and don't inspire an inclusive atmosphere

      Pros

IT hasn't been this changed in over a decade. This is bigger than cloud was. Change to get in and see how Hadoop is transforming companies, and effect change.

      Cons

It's hard work. There's a lot of new technologies to learn, so you have to spend a lot of time learning.

      Pros

Best Hadoop platform on the market. Experienced leadership (for the most part). Well-funded. No additional pros I can think of.

      Cons

Not many people care about their value prop. Corrosive culture, particularly in Engineering. Little upward mobility. Benefits are meh. Constant outflow of talent, being replaced by mediocre clueless people from Oracle
