I have been working at McDonald's Australia part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours - easy to work around school/uni commitments. Strong level of training in terms of customer service

    Cons

Poor communication between managers and crew members. The need/availability of crew is often ignored in order to better suit the needs of the managers or to save money

    Advice to Management

Listen to the availabilities of casual crew members who largely have to arrange shifts around school/uni commitments and cannot show up to shifts outside of set times.

    Pros

The people are great to work with and there are many opportunities for personal development; especially for a first time work experience.

    Cons

Customers are always a unique experience yet you will learn how to deal with such occurrences as you grow and gain confidence in your work.

    Advice to Management

Look after your employees and they'll bend over backwards for you. Remember that it is important to be both a leader and a role model. Sort situations out calmly and respectfully and things will eventually turn in your favour especially if you compromise.

I have been working at McDonald's Australia part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours with a close group of employees. Working at McDonald's teaches you valuable skills and encourages you to teach others.

    Cons

Working at McDonald's is physically demanding and very stressful as you are required to complete many tasks in very short amounts of time.

    Advice to Management

Continue to review restaurants and their store management. There is also a need for stores to have more direct communication to their store owners.

I have been working at McDonald's Australia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great Staff
    - Positive work culture (depends on manager priorities)
    - Somewhat succession planning and development

    Cons

    - Drunk and/or rude customers
    - Unorganisation and un-recognition of hard work by senior management
    - Limited Career advancement based on favouritism .

    Advice to Management

    - ugh, why bother. Not gonna listen to your side anyway. When working at maccas. even if you work really hard, they are right and you're wrong. and they always concerntrate on what you haven't done on shift rather than what you have done. most of the time its petty nonsense things they complain about such as chairs not pushed in or oil in JIB or even little cleaning tasks.

Don't hold your breath if you are looking for compliments or recognition from your senior management.
