    Negative Outlook

I worked at Medibank full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Opportunity to take training and professional courses. Flexible work environment where you can work from home, or in different areas of the building. Great herb garden. Best facilities I've ever had for riding to work - secure bike lockup, very ample change rooms and lockers (though men's has a waitlist for lockers), single use towels, hairdryers, irons and boards.

    Cons

Very annoying hot desking environment where you are expected to pack up all your stuff and put it in your locker if you're not at your desk for more than an hour. Don't take career progression seriously despite talking about it all the time. Lack of transparency within the team I was in with the direction of growth.

I worked at Medibank full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great people, - Ability to work from home now and then - provided you had no meetings (very rare). - Good location - Decent salary

    Cons

    - Managers only concerned with what their manager above them thinks - the smart people on the ground have their knowledge ignored to please out-of-touch managers and execs. - People are over-worked with no time for lunch, never leaving on time and starting early every day. I saw people crying from stress. - hot desking is a waste of time as you spend time looking for a desk every day. - cost cutting is the strategy, rather than being the best, they want to please shareholders. - Very high staff turnover, most people stay only 1-2 years max.

I worked at Medibank full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good laptops, best I've ever used Great office environment although hotdesks are not for everyone Good discount on health insurance Ability to work from home

    Cons

Too many 'career managers' with no proper skill set in their own area. Poor understanding of what their own teams should be doing. Poor IT - and still using Internet Explorer 9! Silos and lack of direction discourage teamwork and foster a finger pointing culture. Medibank feels like several different companies smashed together.
