I worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working in SKI, culture can differ from lab to lab. I had an amazing PI who was always willing to talk and discuss my own growth. As part of a large lab ~20 people, there were some tensions within, but they all got along.

MSK also has great benefits and a great culture overall.

    Cons

Like any other entry level job there was a bunch of busy work that had to be done.

I have been working at Memorial Sloan Kettering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Intelligent employees, major holidays off in regional sites, OK retirement plan, building relationships with the patients,

    Cons

Poor insurance plans, poor management, favoritism, no growth in regional sites, regional sites function differently than city (how you’re trained for 3 wks), good employees get more work put on them while poorer performing employees get pampered, management is not approachable, you do not know your next weeks schedule until the Friday before which makes it hard to plan your personal life.

    Advice to Management

Be more approachable and easier to talk to, stop putting pressure on better employees because of other lower performing employees. Don’t advertise that there is so much room for growth when there really isn’t. There is far too many misleading things fed to new employees at interviews and training. Please stop misleading your employees. And please, provide schedules earlier to your employees so they can have a life outside MSK. The lack of continuity is discouraging.
