I worked at Monsanto Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great flexibility with working hours, tremendous career development scheme, and lots of opportunities to advance your career in any direction. The office culture is the most notable feature; there are no office politics, everyone works hard but effectively and efficiently.

    Cons

Very few. Due to the nature of the intercontinental ‘hubs’ conference calls are frequent and often involve dealing with difficult time zones, but otherwise are not difficult and IT infrastructure is set up to deal with this.

    Advice to Management

HR continue to recruit personnel based on good fit with the team and company morale.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time

    Pros

Flexible and rewarding role. Kept accountable for your work but very agile in approach.

    Cons

Some members of the public are against Monsanto, which can make you feel a little ostracised at times.

    Advice to Management

Continue pushing for work life balance. Continue pushing for internal promotions.

I worked at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company had a very structured process for many of its key business processes. This unlocks a lot of creative freedom...more than it suppresses. I really believe in what the company is doing for farmers across the world and that comes through in its pledge and internal communications.

    Cons

The company is always growing and changing. No one retires from Monsanto. Expect that your job is always going to be at risk of restructuring.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Monsanto is a great place to feel like everyone’s ideas are important and to grow your career. Driven by innovation and candor, no one should ever feel like they don’t have a voice when they want to present new perspectives. The flexibility provided to employees is fantastic and ensures you don’t lose top talent.

    Cons

The location of St. Louis can be a tough sell for people that aren’t familiar with the city.

    Advice to Management

My hope would be that they don’t lose the culture when they become Bayer. Not only does it retain people, but it fosters the innovation throughout the company.

I worked at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Work well compensated. A great place to work.

    Cons

Quick turnover of Managers in my department. In my previous role, it was an average of 2 years. Specifically in this position, there was less likely opportunities to advance unless relocated to Global Headquarters. Support to advance career varied among Managers.

    Advice to Management

Train people in Leadership positions to be true Leaders, not just Managers.
