I worked at Myer for more than a year

    Pros

Exposure to all kinds of departments and all retail products. Above average wage. Great employee discount. Great commission.

    Cons

No logisitics or direction. Micromanagement for all employees. Introduction of initiatives that fail every time. Hours cutting due to failing business.

I worked at Myer for more than a year

    Pros

    - People you work with. I met some really awesome people. - I was a casual and even when I did get a full time job I still kept doing shifts at Myer to keep my discount.

    Cons

    - Even though I had 7 day a week availability, I sometimes only had 3.5 - 10 hrs work that week. I had to keep calling everyday to ask if there was any shifts available. - Store Managers kept changing. - Department Managers were mostly lovely but they were so overworked. - Due to internal theft there was so much security when everyone left work at the end of the day you felt like you were being treated by a criminal....

I have been working at Myer for more than a year

    Pros

    * Team Member discount * Team Members are all friendly * Learn a variety of products * Excellent place to learn customer service * Plenty of skills to learn * Chill environment majority of the time

    Cons

    * You either stay after Christmas Casual position or you don't (depends on the manager) * You can have drought in shifts (but big sales = more shifts) * The people that shop at Myer can make you go insane * At times you can be left alone to look after a whole department * Unrealistic expectations for customer service * Training is poor

    Advice to Management

Ensure that rosters cater to at least 3 people per department...

I have been working at Myer for more than a year

    Pros

    - Good staff benefits (10-15% off certain brands which add up when you're buying things on sale) - Some co-workers are nice

    Cons

    - They barely roster you on because they have money to pay employees (that's why there's only 5 staff across all departments) - Managers don't look at your availability. Will roster you on even if you N/A or you say your unavailable on that day. Sucks because out of all the days of the week they can roster you, they always roster you when you're unavailable so you have to give your only shift away - Most managers don't...

    Advice to Management

    - Stop hiring new Christmas casuals when your team are barely getting any shifts. Give the shifts to us. - PAY ATTENTION to the availability forms we hand in and when we N/A. Do not shift us when we can't work!!!!!

I have been working at Myer for more than a year

    Pros

Great discounts, considering city stores have external brands like Nike, Adidas, Peter Alexander, House of CB, you can get 10-15% off on top of sale, and sometimes there are double discount days. Good pay for retail, but only if you're casual like me. Full-timers had a hard time because the pays not great and you give up weekends, late nights Thursday, and can work til 7 or 8 in busier stores on weekdays. I worked...

    Cons

Can be really stressful at times, and with any customer service job you have to deal irate customer at times. This can be a great place if you have a good team and manager who's on top of things. If not, I suggest transferring departments before quitting. Also if you work at a busy store e.g. Sydney City, Bondi, Melbourne City, the work-life balance is not great, if you're good at your job they will roster you on busy...

    Advice to Management

Upper management is really out of touch with what's happening on the floor. With Myers financial troubles, they try a new strategy every week to get sales up, but all it does is confuse team members and customers. Instructions are confusing as they will often roster on skeleton staff, so 2-3 people per department, yet we were expected to cover 6 zones, recover stock, and work registers
