      Pros

Dynamic, smart team, excellent support. Autonomy to employees to lead. Flexibility to manage workload. Recognition for great work is common.

      Cons

Hierarchal structure requiring management approval lacking empowerment from some teams. Otherwise not much else for cons.

Good line managers out of touch upper management and unhealthy culture

      Pros

People are great to work with, direct line managers care and support you very well. A lot of cultural diversity and inclusion. A lot of career opportunities in other business segments, however you may sometimes be blocked from applying. Work life balance is good, rarely have to bring work home, except for the overtime you do have to work.

      Cons

Severe understaffing, overtime is often not approved and paid, the culture breeds unpaid overtime where staff are guilted into staying behind to help their colleagues complete their work. For a big 4 bank there is lack of organisation at upper levels, which trickles down to their subordinates. IT and tech issues every day, you are not given the tools to do your job properly and timely, but are still expected to hit targets despite issues that are out of your control. Upper management may block you from moving to other roles within the organisation if you are too vital to the business because there is a lack of other trained and experienced staff. Upper management tend to try and boost staff morale with empty promises and token initiatives, which only try and boost staff morale short term, rather than fixing the root issues themselves. Raises and overtime are extremely difficult to get, makes you feel underappreciated and does not make you want to go above and beyond for the company.

      Both good and bad

      Pros

Some good opportunities exist to develop and work on interesting projects if you are in the right team at the right time. There are also many educational opportunities which you can put your hand up for.

      Cons

Typical challenges of working in a large enterprise around getting work delivered. Some projects can be small but take many years to progress due to under resourcing of developers and legacy systems. Culture in the wider digital team became worse overtime rather than improving. Witnessed people being promoted based on being in the in crowd rather than merit many times over. There were some power hungry managers with troublesome leadership approach who often seemed to be flying under the radar due to charisma. I witnessed many people's mental health suffer due to pressure as well as lack of recognition overtime.

      Pros

Good culture, supportive team members and upper management always looking to improve processes, however this could also be a con due to constant change and restructure

      Cons

low-ish pay for what you do constant restructures which are not always for the best, and then end up reverting back to original structure

      It wasn't for me

      Pros

Fast paced, big organisation, possibility of growth if you play the right game

      Cons

A lot of responsibility with great training tools and no follow up by the managers. You are expected to learn everything from completing online training and then actioning on the floor. Very minimal staff working shifts, so managers don't have time to train the new starters.
