I worked at Noble Energy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, large company with a small company feel. Excellent vacation policy. Health, safety and corporate responsibility are priority. Most people are very pleasant to work with.

    Cons

Lack of communication at times and recognition is not fairly distributed. A lot of time and money wasted on GAP which is a coaching program for management. Wondering how many jobs could have been saved if this program wasn't in the budget.

    Advice to Management

Stop wasting so much time and money on GAP. Learn to appreciate all of your employees equally and stop playing favorites.

I have been working at Noble Energy (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Company that fosters very entrepreneurial (intrapreneurial) environment allowing employees to take risks and develop new ideas or ways of thinking. Big supporter of community and allows employees to take off work to volunteer for numerous charity events like Habitat for Humanity, The MS 150 etc...

    Cons

Has no monetary or promotional incentives for those who do come up with and execute innovative ideas and processes that save the company Millions of dollars.. You work your butt off and deliver a solution that saves the company over $12Million in the first year and you will get a shiny new "Leadership Award" Trophy... But don't dare ask for or expect a promotion, raise, or any additional bonus.... That can only happen if you leave for some other company and come back.

    Advice to Management

We have a very unique corporate culture that promotes innovation. Please don't let that be ruined by continuing to not reward, promote or somehow incentivize (other than a glass trophy) those who go above and beyond their normal work responsibilities to implement their ideas and save the company millions!

Current downturn felt swifter and stronger in a growing small to midsize company in the midst of expansion.

    Pros

-Great people -Relaxed work environment -Abbreviated work week (four hour Fridays) -Good benefits -Good pay -Great balance between work and life; the job doesn't consume you like some can and do

    Cons

-"Performance" bonuses are a large part of overall compensation, and you have little control over how the company performs as a whole, especially in times of lower commodity prices -Appalachian business unit is relatively young, so there are not many standard practices in place

I worked at Noble Energy as an intern

    Pros

There is a great atmosphere at this company. Lloyd Noble, the founder of the company, believed heavily in treating his employees like the company's most valuable asset and those principles are still present within the company. Great company to work for.

    Cons

The only downside I noticed with the division order position was that it might have been difficult to advance upward in the company from that position.
