I worked at Nous Group full-time

    Pros

Lots of autonomy and development opportunities (e.g. exposure to senior clients) if you are proactive and capable
Inclusive, non-hierarchical and collaborative culture with genuinely nice people
Intense work, but better work-life balance than other consultancies
Good diversity of projects and company actively tries to skew towards 'interesting' work
If you like interesting Public Sector work you'll love it

    Cons

Doesn't have the local or global name recognition of its competitors
Skews heavily public sector/not for profit which can limit your exposure to private sector clients
    Pay slightly under market rate

    Advice to Management

Overall doing well. Good company to work for.

Some Principals are much lower performing than others. Hold them to account.

Make a bold call on private sector work. If you're committed then spend the cash required to attract the right Principals and make sure you're promoting staff who have the ability and inclination to work on these projects. If not embrace a role as a Government & NFP boutique that dabbles in the private sector.

I worked at Nous Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, bright and engaging office environment. Great work/life balance.

    Cons

The culture does not make up for the low remuneration and poor management of performance reviews. The company only recognises those who are 'friends' with senior levels, not those who consistently perform well.

I have been working at Nous Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Huge variety, interesting projects and wonderful level of responsibility for someone at my level. Very fun and friendly workplace. Great flexibility and autonomy.

    Cons

You need to be pretty self-sufficient and resilient to thrive here, which may not suit everyone. Your experience can also vary depending on which principals you work with. Some principals are allowed to get away with very poor behaviour.

    Advice to Management

It would be great to see more ethnic diversity at the principal and functional lead level.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Nous Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great location in the heart of the city and hours are also good but some days will be long. have made some genuine friends here. there are a lot of great values but they aren't lived.

    Cons

performance management is disgusting. although things look ok on the surface they aren't. supporting senior managers who treat you like dirt and HR are most definitely not there to help you in any way, although will tell you different. If you end up supporting a manager who bullies you on a daily basis and makes your life hell and you have no where to turn don't think about contacting "HR" because it means you're out on as soon as is feasibly possible. most people think they have to walk around giving you negative and 'some' positive advice because they aren't meeting their KPI's. this ends up with staff in meeting rooms in tears but coming out all smiles for fear that people might think they can't cope. this is also seen as a negative. There are some very overly fake people working here. beware of them if you end up accepting one of their low paid roles.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to ramp up their care factor and support their lower level staff who they don't treat well. sort problems out rather than covering them up. Act sincere rather than being completely fake and you'll get more respect from your employees.

I have been working at Nous Group full-time

    Pros

Given exciting level of responsibility even as a Grad Consultant
    Huge level of autonomy
Genuine focus on work life balance (~200hr months)
Not a "cookie cutter" approach to projects - consultants given the opportunity to think deeply and try new ways to solve complex problems
Work is largely strategic and complex (less tactical)
Positive influence evident in most projects and celebrated company-wide
Employees at every level have a voice
    L&D initiatives improving rapidly

    Cons

    Somewhat less specialization opportunities
Few private sector clients (but actively growing)
