Pros

Fun. WFH options. Laid back

Cons

No salary increase despite role dramatically changing and being below industry average. Some people in managerial roles either aren't suited to managing staff or require management training

Pros

Free breakfast and pizza, some nice developers/staff.

Cons

Oddschecker has fostered and continues to maintain one of the most appalling toxic environments I've witnessed. HR gaslights and interrogates their staff if grievances are made about their managers. They employ underhanded tactics to attempt to evidence the incompetency of those who complain, which include surprise sham end-of-day meetings to discuss and document fabricated issues. Their primary goal is to shut down any grievances, to get rid of those who complain by getting them to feel uncomfortable enough to resign and/or discredit them in front of peers. Bullying was openly observed and accepted. Engineers were underpaid and disrespected, and it showed in the codebase as it was (and probably still is) full of rot and tech debt. The company has a VERY high staff turnover, unsurprisingly. Almost, if not, everyone I worked with had left by the time, if not before or soon after, I did. No real diversity and inclusion; most of the staff are monoethnic (mostly UK white English/British) and the vast majority who weren't from that background are from Eastern Europe or the Balkans (none of which are managerial), and they're only tolerated for their compliance/acquiescence. Business virtually halted due to the pandemic and proved unstable, inflexible, and unable to adapt to economic changes. They ask people to write a good review on Glassdoor when they start, to hide the company's true nature/bad reputation and many people's bad experiences with them. The pandemic was a reason for many to stay as long as they did, which wasn't long at all.
