    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Oil Search full-time

    Pros

A medium sized company, with small company attitudes - you know everyone, and everyone knows you. You can get to the people you need to talk to without unnecessary hierarchy, and you can get things done with a minimum of red tape. Limited processes and structures in place mean that problem solvers and big-picture thinkers can go a long way.

    Cons

Lots of politics, lots of interpersonal dramas making the working environment unpleasant at times. Compensation is below market

I have been working at Oil Search

    Pros

Small company so potential of learning from other departments. Learn together with the company from other bigger companies in the same business.

    Cons

Because its a small company, techincal training is somewhat difficult to come by, especially if you have a immediate team leaders also learning the ropes of the business.

    I worked at Oil Search

    Pros

There is not much to think of except that it was a small company when I joined. Good for building experience on the floor, i.e in the field running around and making things happen, opportunities most big companies would not otherwise give you.

    Cons

The salary is very bad with performance reviews not getting any action from recommendations. There is a culture of suppression and the HR couldnt be any worse. They treat you like dirt and their is a degree of segregation with national employees (Papua New Guineans). The average salary is below market rate and their cost cutting severely impacted investment in the knowledge economy of its empployees. The company tries to potray itself to be an organisation that its not. You have 10 people doing the same task...so either they pass the bark or they feel you have stepped on their foot when it comes to job execution.
