I have been working at Optus part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Used to great with close knit team members, happy manager, relaxed and casual work environment.

    Cons

High turnover in middle management has resulted in high turnover in retail store staff. Combined with the increasing sales targets and new competitive styles brought in by new management many of the old staff have left believing the company was no longer like it used to be and did not respect the individual butonly cared about profit.

    Advice to Management

Lower the unrealistic targets, they cause your employees on the ground unnecessary amounts of stress and anxiety, especially since “performance talks” have to be had every time sometime hits below 100%... which is hardly easy to do.

I have been working at Optus full-time for more than a year

        Pros

        - Very flexible - Great friendly staff - Great team culture - Great employee benefits/staff discounts - Laidback, allowed to use your phone during shift - Can help with career progression but minimal opportunity

        Cons

        - Terrible pay/commission - Lots of rude customers to deal with - Lack of career progression opportunities for retail staff - Too many offers, business rules & system processes to remember - Company sees you as another number - Customer care very unhelpful most of the time, doesn’t help with resolving customer issues

        Advice to Management

        - Pay your retail staff properly, not minimum wage - Simplify systems for easier use for employees - More career progression opportunities for retail staff

I have been working at Optus part-time for less than a year

        Pros

All the people I met in retail role (manager, FT/PT co-workers) and even regional managers who come in to visit sometimes are very friendly, easy going people. The culture is quite competitive but not stressful. KPIs are measured every single day and employee tallies are posted publicly every night, and store managers also under pressure to compete with each store in their level. Not a matter if you're good at what...

        Cons

Incentives: I'm a casual employee but work almost 20-25 hours a week. I get a higher base rate but no paid leave or other employee benefits or incentives, whereas PT and FT get commission. Growth in company: not much room to grow within the retail store or company. Been commended by co-workers, manager, regional manager several times about my high performance but no offers to advance despite this.

        Advice to Management

Give high performing workers more opportunities to advance to other sectors.
