      Good place, not perfect

      Pros

Amazing Sydney Campus, with: Lots of grass areas and unique seating places, Onsite Gym, lots of food shops (priced sort of high expect $10-$15 for a take away lunch), onsite bar, lots of events, onsite GP, Physio, Dentist, Hair dresser and one hell of a annual Christmas Party. The work (can vary quite significantly depending on department): - Great opportunities for development - Fun culture - Flexible hours - Good pay - Decent Optus staff discounts - Good internal education opportunities - Good feedback culture, usually paths to have your feedback heard (but not usually anything done with it) - Some really great people to work with

      Cons

      - Some departments have a very poor culture of the way they work and treating employees (I fell in to one and left to another very quickly) - Constant change (sometimes good, sometimes bad) - Since the recent restructure everyone is doing "3 jobs" - Many great services, events and on campus courses however most the time you are working and miss out on them - Some very slow, old and inefficient systems in place making seemingly simple tasks very difficult (however this is starting to change) - Aggressive KPI's and targets which can push employees to take extreme measures to meet - Some really bad people to work with - Annual mandatory my learning modules that bore you to death

Overall good company to work for, good perks, yearly bonuses, however experiencing redundancies

      Pros

Apart from the obvious such as generous parental leave, childcare centre downstairs, major discounts to phone plans and NBN plans, gigantic campus with cafes and many facilities, people I worked with were generally smart, diligent and passionate. Company does attract intelligent employees. CEO Allen Liew does try hard and is well liked.

      Cons

Company is cost cutting and yearly restructures are not uncommon. Many smart people have lost jobs, leaving people behind swamped with extra work and low morale. Senior management sometimes doesnt communicate very well to staff esp major announcements and doesnt understand why employee engagement score is so low and doesnt do that much to improve it. Optus is getting more political in recent days, good old days have kinda gone

Good overall but there is some instability

      Pros

Good benefits and campus facilities at Sydney headquarters. Flexibility and preparing people for Chatswood to Epping rail closing. Supportive leaders who let you work autonomously (in some teams). CEO and leadership team presents to staff weekly on what is going on and staff invited to ask any question they want. Opportunities to volunteer. Easy to move into other roles in other teams after a year even if you don’t have the right experience for it (a con for the people in the teams you move into).

      Cons

Some leaders are reluctant to promote people within their teams. “Surprise” restructures so people are scared every day. Business communicates that it wants to be the “Best place to work” but many staff don’t feel this way cos not much positive stuff has happened lately.
