    Advice to Management

It’s a shame to see that you wouldn’t recommend working at OUP. We’d welcome the opportunity to hear more about the points you mention in your review, and understand more about the challenges you have highlighted around reward and technology. You can get in touch via glassdoor@oup.com

I worked at Oxford University Press full-time

    Pros

Flexible working. Was a great team to work with. The publishing team were great. Support staff fantastic.

    Cons

Management are not interested in keeping their talented staff. After a number of years working in Sales, year after year the same issues would reappear and be brought to upper managements attention - and are not fixed to this day. A lot of lip service but no changes in simple processes - to the detriment of the company and the absolute frustration of the sales team.

    Advice to Management

Oxford has a great name and the publishing is solid - clean up the rest of those processes and you might find yourself in an amazing position in the market. It is a mystery as to why you haven't ?!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. While we’re glad to hear that you had supportive colleagues, we’re sorry your time here was frustrating in other ways. We understand just how much daily processes can affect someone’s experience of working somewhere and it is important to us that our people feel heard. There is currently a lot of work going on around the organization to improve our processes, so we would welcome more detail about your specific experiences. If you would like to discuss things further, please do get in touch via glassdoor@oup.com

    Pros

Half Friday's every fortnight On site parking Flexi hours Ability to not work hard everyday - if you are looking for a place you can procastinate and kill time this is the place for you. Brand name recognition Office location is great

    Cons

Management are all long time employees that have been promoted up due to longevity of their employment rather than qualifications or talent. If you are passionate and hard working this is not the company for you. 80% of staff come in late and leave early - a nightmare if you are managing a team! Lots of 'working from home' or out of office staff that aren't managed properly. Only occasionally has someone... employed as HR Pay is below industry standard and they rename job titles to make this hard to analyse when they do their employee surveys. Regular salary and budget freezes making your income below inflation. Lots of people that think they are intelligent...

    Advice to Management

Increase salaries and make job titles and tasks match industry standard. Culture of internal promotions based on longevity rather than talent is a disgrace. Look at middle management!!
