I worked at PageGroup full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I had a fantastic 4 years here. Great career trajectory and you have tangible targets to get promoted. Met some life long friends. Pay is very good. This was my first corporate role and its great they give opportunities to those with no/limited experience. Some fantastic incentives - went on two 5 star rewards trips in Asia.

    Cons

Pretty long working hours, though flexibility was being introduced when I left. ´Phone time´ was a ridiculous KPI which made no sense when measuring results. Because everyone starts at the bottom, certain senior members have spent their entire career here, meaning they are quite tunnel-visioned. There is some bad blood when you leave which is unnecessary, in particular from the MD.

I worked at PageGroup full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Strong L&D when you first join - Fun team building events now and again - Hiring of enthusiastic staff to create good social group

    Cons

    - Micro management culture - obsession with short term KPIs and a quick fix approach. No room for thinking outside the box - High staff turnover. 70 percent office turnover for - Bonuses are secretive, discretionary and abstract. There is no tangible incentive to work towards - Standard 8am - 6pm working hours. The 'flexibility' they offer is slightly changing the 10 hour day to 7am-5pm or 9am-7pm. Strictly 10 hours per day is not 'flexible' as they so often tell you. - 37.5 hours is the contract you sign, but you are required to work 45 hours per week. Is this even legal?

I have been working at PageGroup

    Pros

In order to get a business visa to stay in Australia and to get a 'stbale' income (in other words to avoid being unemployed)

    Cons

The ever moving goalposts, the promises of things and the consistent nondelivery. The company’s insistence that you are given the autonomy to run your own business yet are micro-managed each and every step of the way. The continual demand of ever increasing weekly working hours via management peer pressure yet never being rewarded either personally or financially for your hard work. Bonuses are 'discretionary' and are notoriously disproportionate to the amount of work/time you give/do.

I worked at PageGroup full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Really good training on the fundamentals of recruitment; and fun team activities and rewards for exceeding expectations.

    Cons

No work life balance; basic KPIs are unachievable during normal working hours; not the most ethical company either; and slightly sexist and out of date in that girls have to wear heels to meetings etc. They are also known to pay different to different people based on not much.

I worked at PageGroup full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Enthusiastic environment; Fast learning pace; Team spirit; great database, faster career path than Inhouse HR. Training is good. Pay is high but salary per hour is not.

    Cons

Long working hours; office politics; unrealistic kpi; too money-oriented and pretentiously labeled themselves as a luxury brand. Does not keep their promises.

    I worked at PageGroup full-time

    Pros

Great welfare benefits covered under a insurance program. Annual leave is also more than sufficient. Open culture, colleagues are generally nice.

    Cons

Long working hours especially for support functions, no work life balance. Back office typically viewed as 2nd class citizens.

    PageGroup Response

August 16, 2019Beverley Nicholas, Regional Talent Director

Thank you for taking the time to review your time at PageGroup. I’m disappointed to hear that you didn’t benefit from the dynamic working approach we introduced a few years’ ago as the feedback from others is that it has helped them achieve the work/life balance they want. We will continue to embed this in the business as it’s important to us. I wish you all the best for the future.
