I worked at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible working hours, great benefits such as paid charity time, financial incentives to partake in extracurricular activities with colleagues etc. Pay was very competitive for the music industry also.

    Cons

No clear direction from the head offices in the USA and therefore didn't have a clear indication of KPIs

I have been working at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It’s music, after all. Selling is really great here - the platform is well established in the marketplace and it’s easy to get a meeting. People are generally nice and wonderful to work with. There is incredible sales support and resources - we are so spoiled!

    Cons

A lot people fly under the radar and don’t pull their weight. I wish Pandora was better at holding people accountable to performance goals and setting higher expectations for work.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Snacks in the office are plentiful. That’s legitimately the only benefit of working here.

    Cons

Poor top management, coupled with extremely negative gender politics and a lack of any true marketing or strategic leadership in the org make Pandora a very challenging place to work and be happy. Also so much dead weight - many VPs who add little to no value to the org.

"Don't work there until management changes"

I worked at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great work/life balance. The attitude is that Pandora hires adults and treats people like adults. This is mostly true in every office except NYC. The product is something people actually use. So when you tell people you work at Pandora, they start telling you about all of their favorite stations. If you work in sales and get a chance to go to the sales conference, its always fun. Unlike other companies, there are usually only 500 attendees or so and you have a great opportunity to meet and network with C-Suite as well as other people at your level. Always great bonding time.

    Cons

Pandora is not the company it was 18+ months ago. The old-school radio sales management team needs to change. This has now become a good ol' boys club. Same as most media companies. There is little to no chance of advancement and the sales budgets have not been attainable for the last two years. No one is making the money they were promised and because the stock price is so low, its even worse. The stock is 30% of your overall compensation so beware when you agree to the comp plan. Many people feel duped by how this was "sold" to them. There is also a serious disconnect between the people who have been at Pandora over 5 years, and those that have been there under 5 years. Quite a sense of entitlement among young, inexperienced managers and not enough praise or value for the more tenured management staff. This is particularly true in NY, ATL and BOS where the office environments and cultures are horrific due to lack of management changes. The product is seriously behind the competition and the past two marketing campaigns have fallen flat. The product teams need to work solutions for programmatic selling so that the ad support side of the business doesn't keep losing money.
