    If you find yourself in a rut working with the same technology day in and day out you might give software consulting a try. Pariveda has a range of projects that span from web design and cloud computing to machine learning and app development. Another thing that i've really enjoyed about the company is their emphasis on thought leadership. They encourage employees of all levels to join internal initiatives that can... have an impact on the company's culture and future. There are also a lot of opportunities for connecting on a personal level through out the company. We have a diverse employee base with various opportunities to share what you're passionate about (rock climbing club, dnd groups, running club, minecraft server, baking club, book club, & more).

    You definitely get what you are willing to put in. If you're looking for a 8-5 without other commitments you can definitely do that here, but because of the company culture you won't feel like you're getting the same experience as those around you without building a few relationships.

    1) Growing people to their fullest potential is truly the primary focus of this company. The quality of the systems in place and the time spent by management to help people grow has been astounding to me after coming from a large consulting firm. 2) The work is project based, and the projects are both interesting and challenging. Management makes a point out of only targeting projects that will be engaging for... developers. These projects have a definitive endpoint where the work is handed off, and allows the developer to work on something else. 3) Awesome culture - very fun and open, with regular events for various groups. 4) Competitive salary, benefits, and plenty of time off!

    Constantly pushing for your own growth and excellence can be stressful. Aside from the usual consulting cons (e.g., occasionally working long hours to ensure a project's success, or feeling isolated on your client team), this is the one thing I come back to. You have to want to grow professionally and be willing to put out the extra effort that entails, or you'll fall behind your peers.

    Pariveda is a great place to work to continue learning throughout your entire career. Some of the best things: - Transparent pay scale - Consistent and non-competitive review and promotion process - Clear growth path (Consultant -> Associate -> Manager -> Principal -> Vice President) - Formal mentor process to support and assist growth - Great people in a team-focused, collaborative... environment! - Attention paid to individual well-being and office/company culture to support work-life balance and sustainable staffing - Emphasis on placing employees where they will be able to grow, not simply where they will provide the greatest profit for the firm - Transparency around firm financial metrics - Individuals at all levels encouraged to take initiative to engage with the office or company — assist with recruiting, lead technical or non-technical learning opportunities, etc. - Community service hours required at each level, and office teams dedicated to creating group service opportunities - Expectations Framework that describes the behaviors and expectations at every level across a variety of categories, giving a clear idea of what is needed to move to each level

    This company is very white, and very male. There are support networks created company-wide for groups that fall outside of those categories, and the company touts a commitment to diversity, but that hasn't changed the fact that if you are not white and male, there will be times where you will be the "only" in a room. Pariveda is very demanding, in that they expect you to put continuous time and effort into... working on yourself. This is not an environment where you can just coast. The review and promotion processes are intense, and designed to identify growth areas in which the company can support you. You will be put in positions and situations that stretch your abilities in order to help you grow them, which can be very stressful — Pariveda's goal is to keep you right on the learning edge of stress, where you're never quite comfortable, but you're never too far out of your depth. The career path at Pariveda is designed to build well-rounded professionals. It leads from heavily-technical roles up through high-level management — if your goal is to stay purely technical, and not move to account and client management, then this path may not be for you.

    Keep putting in effort to support diversity across the company! A Slack group is nice, but that's not going to keep someone from feeling their lack of representation in an office, or provide them with in-the-moment allies/help responding to uncomfortable comments in client situations. Support diverse talent discovery and hiring practices, and make sure appropriate thought and training prevent biases from impacting... interview, promotion, and review processes.

    Pariveda's business model focuses on using talent to drive profit, and backs that up by investing heavily in the professional development of each employee. The company takes a very serious approach to mentorship and reviews, with the executive team taking several days every term to go over every performance review and make sure everyone is getting the feedback and direction they need to succeed. Since consulting can... be so high pace, this extra care taken by higher ups really helps to prevent employees from falling into a rut and focusing entirely on the day to day, especially early in a career.

    Because Pariveda is so focused on growth, you are expected to continue your professional development on your own time in addition to work hours. This means reading books, doing personal projects, and lending your time to teammates when needed. This is less a con and more a warning that you should be ready to put in a lot of work on yourself if you want to be successful at Pariveda.

    Continue to build out the capability pipeline to give consultants with specific fields of interest more opportunity to pursue those interests at the enterprise level.

    I joined this company out of college, and used to think that all companies were like this - treated you like a real person and not a resource, gave you advice to help you advance your career, and made sure you were happy in what you were doing. In my time here, I've consistently been rejuvenated from learning that these things are not standard at other companies and that I'm truly set up to succeed and be a better... version of myself. The people here listen to you and genuinely want to help you in whatever way they can. Management does a great job of making sure everyone is finding value in their work and finds their work challenging and stimulating, which is an especially tough thing in consulting where we don't always get to pick the work. The career path and growth is there - which makes it all the more rewarding to stick around. It all boils down to the fact that they treat you like family here, not because they have to but because they value people as people and not as a resource or a means to sell work.

    We're getting bigger, and you can start to feel the growing pains. The firm is going through a big change right now, with opening our first international office and branching out in to new areas of consulting. While it is an exciting thing to be a part of, management feels stressed and has a lot on their plates because of the changes. They are heading in the same direction, but it seems like some people have... different visions and everyone isn't used to having so many people to communicate to, so it sometimes feels like people are stepping on each other's toes or heading somewhere without a plan to get there.

    Know that projects you take on are likely being done somewhere else in the company or there is a department that should know what you are doing before you do it. Understand that info will spread quickly and without your control, so taking hold of the company news cycle is important to reduce rumors or confusion about new and exciting initiatives.

    - Well defined Expectations Framework enables employees to be active in their career development and growth - Values support collaboration with fellow employees instead of competition - Open pay scale and established specific salary at each level provides security in equality of pay between co-workers in the same role - Mentor program promotes connections outside of projects and a diverse point of opinions

    Cons

    - Promotions are considered only after a set period of time. There's no way to "speed up" the process. (However this does ensure enough time to become proficient in skills vs. at level)

    - Continue to listen to employees pushing for a voice outside of the standard "developer/software architect" track - Remain open and honest with employees as changes are implemented throughout the company

    The list of pros for Pariveda seems to be endless. I continue to be amazed by the culture, growth opportunities, and emphasis on their people. Every employee has others in mind and is more than willing to support others. Pariveda provides the resources for successful careers with certifications, a variety of different projects/technologies, and career advisors to help you through each cohort. There is a clear path... for each promotion. It is unique to find a consulting firm that asks for consultants opinions and actively changes processes based off of those opinions. Pariveda strives to make it a better workplace for all.

    Pariveda gives you so many opportunities to grow yourself technically, personally, and in the business space. You have a say in how you want to develop in your career. You also get a personal mentor that gives you support throughout that development. Pariveda follows through on mentorship. Around the company, career development and mentor responsibilities are the top priority. What's more, the people at Pariveda... have created a close-knit culture that is inclusive of all and creates a comfortable work environment. That focus on mentorship creates close and valuable relationships that build on each other throughout the company.

    The track for growth can prove to be too fast for some. Pariveda uses a framework that lays out a path for growth in many different areas. Everyone grows in different ways and at different speeds, so it may not fit someone's development. It can be tough for some employees who compare themselves to others in growth; not that other companies do not deal with this challenge as well.

    Advice to Management

    Expectations around speed of growth can be better messaged to the employees personally and to those around them. We can continue to improve our mentorship in that area and continue to grow the culture of feedback. I fully expect Pariveda to keep improving and keep caring about its people.
