I worked at Philip Morris International full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

PMI trully invests in its employee's development, it is agreat place to work with plenty of opportunities all the time either in your own country or abroad.

    Cons

As the name says, "fast moving consumer goods" reflects on the speed of change of the Company. Might be well accepted by some, not so much if you are looking for a lot of stability and if you would like to do the same thing for many years.

    Advice to Management

Understanding it is impossible to change the pace (and it wouldn't be as fun :) ), Management could try to make people feel safer and ensure there is a clear direction.

I worked at Philip Morris International full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great people, most of my 9 year career was really great. Always changing, great autonomy, pays well, good perks, and events.

    Cons

You’ll learn to stop asking “why?”. Most of the time nothing makes any sense, a lot of the activities that engage most of your time, don’t actually relate to your KPI’s. Bi annual performance reviews are highly subjective, decided behind closed doors, and don’t change regardless of the body of evidence you can produce to support your case.

    Advice to Management

You’ll never beat your opposition, while you remain so reactive

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Philip Morris International full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

No real accountability across middle and senior management.

    Cons

Far too much political performance measurement. Make the most noise and you will move forward.

    Advice to Management

Establish a vision, mission statement and KPI's to run the business, tobacco is too expensive to sell themselves now.

I worked at Philip Morris International full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Going up the corporate ladder pretty quick - high wages - international roles - extensive training - excellent medical and dental pension - company splurges when it comes to offices and amenities - excellent benefit cars

    Cons

    - too much politics, less about actual work - overuse of expats in end markets with little room to grow for locals, at director roles - nepotism for global functions. One single family has 6 members from executive to global VP - use of audit and internal controls to push employees out. Especially with those who speak up their minds loudly - constant creation of managerial levels. Sometimes managers outnumber executives

    Advice to Management

Promote anonymous feedback on the intranet, get a real feel of your down the pyramid employees
