I have been working at Platypus Shoes part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - People are generally great to work with depending on the store you are at - Generous discount - Flexible hours as a casual staff

    Cons

Ridiculous amounts of pressure put on staff to sell and reach sales targets, whilst the company continues to make terrible decisions which cause sales to drop - then blame staff for the drop in sales. No understanding whatsoever, and rather than celebrating the wins made by staff members, upper management prefer to focus on the losses. Have seen managers be so stressed about making sales target they will buy shoes out of their own pocket without staff discount just so target is made. Hours for casual staff members are dependant on how much money you can make them. Have seen fellow staff members only receive one 3 hour shift in a week or none at all. Have heard stories of rampant bullying that has gone ignored by upper management because the perpetrators are the ones that make them money or are friends with upper management. Upper management has also threatened to cut shifts for ridiculous reasons. A lot of wage theft also occurs. When called out, it gets written off as a "mistake" and you will have to hassle them for your money as they will try to hold onto it and hope you forget. Record your worked hours and always double check payslips. Overall just a very unethical company to work for.
