I worked at Progress full-time for more than a year

    Pros

CBD location and a lovely office manager

    Cons

It is just vanilla! Products are not competitive in the market; high turnover; no initiatives and bad management. Do not even ask for culture, it's 'lethal'.

    Advice to Management

Please keep those people whomever still work in this region, do not let them go and contaminate other workplaces.

I have been working at Progress full-time

    Pros

Existing clients are great; all levels of management are inspirational and experienced; new offerings to the market are right; long time successful company; small enough to be personal - you are not just a number. I was inspired to write this review because of the previous (ridiculously) negative review. If that was a review from a sales person, as stated, this person is a team member of one of the strongest... performing progress regions in the world. He/she will soon be attending Sales Kick Off in The Netherlands; has qualified for Circle of Excellence in Morocco; and has recently enjoyed staff team events at Peppers Moonah Links; a Vietnamese Cooking afternoon; Movie and Karaoke afternoon; and soon the Xmas party at Southbank. Plus food and drinks in the office. We are treated like grown ups, and employees are expected to act like grown ups... There is great work/life balance and trust - if you are trustworthy. Rare in this industry at the moment. No colleagues are incompetent; our strength is in our varied experience. Those that want to work as little as possible but expect easy wins will find it difficult. Those that don't understand the changing nature of the industry and the global nature of the company will find it difficult. But anyone willing to put their head down and bum up will be successful in this company. You will need to be self driven, though, because you won't be micro-managed - a big plus in my book. Look at the big picture and you will see endless opportunity - look backwards and needing the comfort of 'mates' and you won't...

    Cons

Going through change which is always hard; some decisions about retrenching staff that are perplexing; colleagues who don't see the big picture or understand the global SW industry can bring you down at times; you really are in charge of your own destiny which can be a challenging ask.

    Advice to Management

Think of what you can do to help your people - don't leave them to fend for themselves so much. Create a great team culture.

I worked at Progress full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Stable company with long history on the market. Relative job security (if you are not top manager). Always pay on time.

    Cons

Process oriented rather than result oriented. Lack of flexibility and internal resistance to change. Over complicated processes. Salaries are not great and it is next to impossible to get a pay rise.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible. Try to identify your top performers and do what you need to keep them - you are too far behind with the internal retention process. Try to improve your change process otherwise will always look like a dinosaur.

I have been working at Progress full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Quiet and nice office, good location, good pantry

    Cons

Extremely high turnover. Existing staff is too eager to please, (most) lacking in actual experience, too much time talking and not enough doing, long tenure staff have gotten complacent, unhealthy 'holier than thou' environment to name a few.The APJ region is like a neglected family member.

    Advice to Management

Proper strategy is needed. Less erratic changes is required. Global view is paramount. And then success will come.

I have been working at Progress full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - WFH is available for most positions. - Unlimited time off. - Great work "family" feel. Everyone is very kind and helpful. - Most teams are great about praising hard work which gives you points towards gift cards and other gifts, which is nice. - Compensation is good. - Lots of incredible opportunities that you do not get at many other companies. -

    Cons

They are really into this whole "running lean" thing, which ultimately means that you have a lot more responsibilities than you can handle some weeks, which tends to result in mediocre work, rather than quality. It can be incredibly draining and stressful some days.

    Advice to Management

My only real advice is to be more involved in your employee's day-to-day life so that you can know the full weight of work on their shoulders, and what might be going on with them at work, and in their personal lives. This kind of goes along with the Con above, since it has more to do with the whole "running lean" and stretching management too far, but it would help.
