    Existing clients are great; all levels of management are inspirational and experienced; new offerings to the market are right; long time successful company; small enough to be personal - you are not just a number. I was inspired to write this review because of the previous (ridiculously) negative review.     Cons

    Going through change which is always hard; some decisions about retrenching staff that are perplexing; colleagues who don't see the big picture or understand the global SW industry can bring you down at times; you really are in charge of your own destiny which can be a challenging ask.

    Advice to Management

    Think of what you can do to help your people - don't leave them to fend for themselves so much. Create a great team culture.

    * some good people working there (but they usually get the flick and awful people get to stay)

    Cons

    * like a soap opera. Melbourne office is more focused on cliques, backstabbing, psychological warfare and games than actually working. - senior management turn the blind eye when real issues arise. Favouritism is a big focus on management. * so much office games between staff and not enough time to actually do your job * you literally can get away with murder - or play video games, spend hours at lunch ... seems fun...

    Advice to Management

    * manage your office like a real business and not a kindergarten. Some venomous people is not an ideal place to work and management can’t be bothered to rectify the toxicity and negative environment

    I worked at Progress full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Stable company with long history on the market. Relative job security (if you are not top manager). Always pay on time.

    Cons

    Process oriented rather than result oriented. Lack of flexibility and internal resistance to change. Over complicated processes. Salaries are not great and it is next to impossible to get a pay rise.

    Advice to Management

    Be more flexible. Try to identify your top performers and do what you need to keep them - you are too far behind with the internal retention process. Try to improve your change process otherwise will always look like a dinosaur.

      Pros

      Quiet and nice office, good location, good pantry

      Cons

      Extremely high turnover. Existing staff is too eager to please, (most) lacking in actual experience, too much time talking and not enough doing, long tenure staff have gotten complacent, unhealthy 'holier than thou' environment to name a few.The APJ region is like a neglected family member.

      Advice to Management

      Proper strategy is needed. Less erratic changes is required. Global view is paramount. And then success will come.
