I worked at Queensland Health full-time

    Pros

Work/life balance due to somewhat flexible hours. Good enough pay.

    Cons

Generally weak middle management with many biases, somewhat unconscious but many conscious, e.g. favouritism. Self-centredness & Peter Principle is rife. Lack of sincerity found via middle management misrepresenting the truth. Some long term staff learnt how to 'play the game' to become a manager's favourite so as to be promoted - yet, it often seems that this is acceptable in this current world!

HR have a lot to learn - often too young & inexperienced to effectively deal with issues. Management pulls wool over their eyes (& appallingly think they're clever in doing so) pretending all is right.

    Advice to Management

The values are great but they need to worked. Wise up & be adamant! Remove the sick who make & support the bad culture, e.g. bullying, narcissism, favouritism. Deal with these types as they should be dealt with. Conflict courses address only the symptoms, if at all. This will also improve engagement of acceptance of equality, diversity and inclusiveness.
