Can you double the ANZ business in 2 years? If Yes, you will join RS. If not, you will "resign" within 12 months.

      Pros

Do your due diligence well before joining RS Australia. Wonder which Manager you are replacing this time? Hope you enjoy micro-management (giving and receiving)

      Cons

No investment in ANZ yet expected to double the ANZ business in 2-3 years. Continual head count reduction strategy to re-pay overseas investment, that investment has little or no bearing in ANZ. Revolving door of management. I've seen 4 managers in 2 years. CRM software is 20 years out of date, no planned updates. Shocking HR and IT Dept's. My job was threatened shortly after I started.

RS Australia - Bean Counters Rejoice! It’s Wing Clipping season!

      Pros

There are still some employees based in Australia. Ask me again in a few years?

      Cons

Meet our newest Department – NCNCO = Non-Core Non Competitive Offer. A Non Competitive Non-Core buy price should still grow the sales line by 30%, Shouldn’t it? and allow RS to be a solutions based business?! ( That's our target!) Continual reduction of head count and non-competitive local buy price are the business hinders. Australia has more competition in the form of OEM and wholesalers than anywhere in the world, Yet 30% growth targets at RS, meanwhile the Australian economy is gliding along @ 2-3% growth. The Australian offer isn’t the same as the UK offer–we cannot supply everything. RS ANZ has NEVER won a supply tender, due to the nature of the business model and fierce ANZ competition the UK couldn't imagine. In ANZ - everyone else, is a competitor, they want RS business for themselves - please let this sink in - it's important when you ask for 30% YoY growth. (see below weekly list price changes!) Sales are off target – what’s the response from management? Step 1: beat sales over the head with a stick. Step 2: Repeat Step 1. No thought of making the business better via improvements to CRM or pickup the phone and ask for a better cost price on local sourced components, or more human resources in sales support, which are desperately required. That would help win sales over the competition. There are too many holes in the sales bucket (leakages) which are just ignored. The water level in the sales bucket is reducing, staff are working harder and harder, not smarter.

      Pros

      Cons

Be careful. Ask yourself if your values are aligned to RS. Dig deep and ask many questions for example how did this position come about? Am I replacing someone who is already in the position I am applying for?
