    I have been working at Raley's part-time

    Pros

    - friendly staff, almost everyone gets along
     - union backed
     - all employees are extremely knowledgeable of item locations and procedures

    Cons

    - many of the older staff are unfriendly and counterproductive when working with young staff, to the point where in one case it was not possible to ask basic questions such as where things were without being told off for being disrespectful due to my position as a bagger
     - training provided by the company is very inefficient, all online and is not representative of what the job is actually like
     - management expects newer employment to know the store and its procedures immediately, does not teach new employees how to do any of these

    Advice to Management

The majority of customers I've dealt with do not understand the point of the Something Extra rewards card, thinking it is a discount card and that the deals are only available when you have the card. We waste a lot of time having to explain this as about 70% of customers ask about it, and I firmly believe this is a company service problem that leads to our customer's not understanding. Other customers I've talked to don't see value in getting 5$ and a set of coupons for spending 500$ on groceries per quarter (without double or triple point coupons).

I have been working at Raley's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The mission, vision and values is what is at the core of this organization: I have seen this through the change they are bringing into every layer, internally with their leadership development programs, the new office remodel, and externally through the food options offered at the stores. The leadership is here to support the people to become their best version of themselves. They truly are committed to everyone's success! They want to hear from all levels to know how they could do things even better...the culture is more than just talk. The intent is to put things into action!

    Cons

No organization is perfect...I believe this company will be implementing a lot of changes to ensure they address any gaps.

    I worked at Raley's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Managers were really cool to work with. They are patient when you're learning and provide help when needed.

    Cons

Hard workers are taken advantage of. Myself as well as a couple others were asked to do 2-3x the amount of work as some just based off ability. Not fairly compensated for extra responsibility. Hated working in the deli

    Advice to Management

Don't burn your employees out so fast

I have been working at Raley's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -A slightly flexible work schedule

    Cons

-Horribly understaffed. This is on purpose to "save" money.
-Hour cuts down to 28 hours for clerks and 16 hours for courtesy clerks
-Customers are horribly entitled and rude
-Employees expected to do 3-4 jobs at once
-Every single employee is overworked and underpaid (unless on the old union contract)
-Union dues will destroy your paychecks
-Random hours scheduled most the time, even over night shifts
    -Management is inconsistent

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your team. Morale in these stores is pitifully low. It's really pathetic how a formerly great company like Raley's has been absolutely destroyed by Mike Teel and his horrible ideas. Management does not appreciate their team and it's reflected in the performance of the employees and extremely high turnover rate. I have seen over 20 people quit in the span of 1 year.
I have zero doubt in my mind this is the next major grocery chain to die, because they will have no staff left after the old $26/hr clerks retire and die off.

I have been working at Raley's part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

you have benefits from the union ,and you work inside most of the time the staff is friendly.

    Cons

you must pay union dews and your benefits take many months to kick in and doesn't always cover all your medical bills. your schedule is never the same and lots of half days or split days off or work 9days in a row with one day off in-between. constant lifting and leaning over to work picking up product leads to back problems and hernias ..your paycheck tops out at 16.66 and that hardly covers the cost of living after taxes and union dews..the management is unprofessional and the crew is understaffed

    Advice to Management

    take management classes
