I have been working at Rio Tinto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Varied work. Most of the time you can choose what you work on. If you have a good boss you will have more opportunities and a good experience.

    Cons

FIFO. No Perth opportunities. Job cuts are often. Not very flexible. Site hours a rigid.

    Advice to Management

Better relationships with employees - don't be so lazy and interact with them and actually follow what they are doing.

I have been working at Rio Tinto full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The Work is really exciting and adventurous. Good salary. Employee safety is of paramount importance.Read about the policies at the official website. You'll know much better about the company.

    Cons

Lots of travelling that you'll get tired of it. The posting is usually in remote locations so forget the 21st century life style and start seeing man vs wild on nat geo. U have to be emotionally very strong to survive in the company.

    Advice to Management

Shorten the recruitment procedure and send some technically sound people to take interviews who atleast know things else than pumps. (the guy didn't even know what is a pelton turbine)

I have been working at Rio Tinto full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Rio Tinto has been great. excellent pay, Good career development and training. Good news, if you don't like your manager, you will always have a new one within a few months.

    Cons

No plans for graduates. A lot of promises with no delivery. Upper management really doesn't have time to give to less senior employees. High turn over in upper management.

    Advice to Management

Better chain of command when you contract your employees to different business units with clear dates and role descriptions.
