    Pros

Fairly decent salary Flexibility in some roles

    Cons

Red tape galore Incompetent, self serving management Lack of alignment between product business units and centralised functions A high percentage of experienced staff have exited the business in the last 7 years. The use of labour hire contracts for white collar roles

    Advice to Management

Back off from the slash and burn cost cutting, stop the sham contracting nonsense of using labour hire contracts and performance manage poor leaders out of the business.

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Rio Tinto full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Experience good if you find yourself somewhere that management actually know what they are doing Pay is competitive

    Cons

The organisation has changed so many senior people that no one knows who does what any more. The new team don’t know the business basics Are yet so everything is highly politicized. The new operational hubs are a long way from operations and the top down centralisation can kill local initiatives.

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics and hire senior management that knows the business basics. Fix the centralized services which have drawn everyone to a computer rather than the workplace. Take more care of global employees as they end up in no man’s land. The support systems are dreadfully inefficient and full of errors.
