I have been working at Rio Tinto for less than a year

    Pros

Global organisation. Exciting technology in mining. Great people to work with, lots of collaboration. Constant change which exciting. Salaries are competitive and a great health and share purchase scheme.

    Cons

Pace of change can be scary at times, but makes it exciting and challenging. The global nature is a positive but can make connecting more difficult

    Pros

Feel part of a team, generally take safety very seriously. Reasonable communication to all employees. Good pay, nice place to work.

    Cons

Sometimes shortsighted planning regarding staff numbers. Still maintain coal assets. Very male dominated company, could do more in this space.

I have been working at Rio Tinto full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The company has a great share scheme, medcial cover and other salary packaging benefits

    Cons

Management can sometimes be unproffessional or even cowboyish. Most are very respectable but there are a few that let the team down but as they have good technical and working knowledge they are generally left to there own devices to acheive the desired results.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your people like you once did. The current mind set is poising the comapny and its employees and driving talent away from the business.

I have been working at Rio Tinto full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good health benefits. Pay is inline with industry standard with access to salary sacrifice

    Cons

Fifo, camp life. Every aspect of the job has been squeezed corners cut and productivity over safety. A strong push for the appearance of a safety culture. Everything is subject to change for company requirements

I worked at Rio Tinto full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good wages, big company, good people working there. Helped a lot of people carve out good careers.

    Cons

Bullied small companies. Care about money and profit over employees and safety. Once were good but squeezed and squeezed employees until most now hate the company and show up just to be paid.

    Advice to Management

If you keep cutting benefits and cheap things that keep employees happy, you are penny wise and pound foolish as these employees will lose so much productivity. IF they know you don't care about them why should they care about the company?
